FFVI Cotton Robe Artwork

Official art from Final Fantasy VI.

A robe made from the thread spun by a magical insect, which is then later woven into cotton. A Wind Stone is also used in its manufacturing process, making it a lighter piece of protective equipments for mages who cannot wear heavy pieces of armor. Many who love the cotton robe have many duplicates because they are smooth to the touch and made from a nice breathable material. The materials used to make it are often gathered from the Ordelion Federation, which excels in agriculture.

Cotton Robe (木綿のローブ or もめんのローブ, Momen no Rōbu?) is a recurring piece of armor in the series. It is usually worn by magic-based classes, and provides decent Magic bonuses. It is usually the weakest type of robe.

AppearancesEdit

Final Fantasy VEdit

Light cotton robe.
—Description

Final Fantasy VIEdit

Multilayered cotton robe.
—Description

Cotton Robe is the weakest robe and is Strago's initial armor. It can be used by Strago, Terra, Gogo, and Relm. It provides +32 Defense and +21 Magic Defense. It can be bought at South Figaro for 200 gil.

Final Fantasy IXEdit

Ordinary robe.
—Description

Cotton Robe is the weakest robe used by the mages. It provides +10 Defense, +2 Magic Defense, and +1 Strength and Magic. It also makes the wearer weak to Fire-elemental attacks. It teaches Chemist and Shell.

It can be synthesized in Lindblum, Treno, Black Mage Village (before entering Shimmering Island portal), Alexandria, and Daguerreo for 1,000 gil, Wrist and Steepled Hat and found in the "Between Mountains" Chocograph treasure.

Cotton Robe is notable for being able to be sold for less than it costs to synthesize it, so the player can repeatedly synthesize and sell them for unlimited gil, which is particularly useful on a low-level game.
