WARNING! WARNING! HUMAN ENTRY PROHIBITED! VACATE PREMISES WITHIN 30 SECONDS. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.

Construct 7

Construct 7, also known as Worker-7-New, is an optional boss from Final Fantasy Tactics. It is an automaton built by an advanced ancient civilization from the days of Saint Ajora Glabados. Construct 7 can be fought as part of a sidequest, guarding the Nelveska Temple.

Defeating Construct 7 is required in order to restore Reis Duelar back to her human form, as well for recruiting Cloud Strife.

History[]

When Ramza and his company entered the temple, the automaton warned them to leave within 30 seconds as it had been ordered to ward off visitors. As it started its countdown, its systems malfunctioned, likely from old age, and the count was largely skipped, causing it to adopt its "Annihilation Mode" on the intruders while "warning" its masters to take refuge, seemingly unaware that they had long passed away.

Although providing strong opposition, Ramza's party prevailed and the automaton activated a destruction sequence whose countdown failed again before the guardian of the temple is rendered inactive permanently.

Upon destruction, Construct 7 dropped the Cancer auracite, which was powering its system much like the Aquarius auracite reactivated Construct 8. With the temple now with no guardians, Ramza told Beowulf Cadmus that the auracite had the power to grant desire both evil and pure if it was strongly wished upon. Beowulf entrusted Reis with the Cancer stone, who then ventured inside the temple with the auracite, and wishing upon it, was restored to normalcy from her draconic curse. Beowulf and Reis embraced as they were truly reunited.

Reis then offered to join Ramza's company, now as a human.

Battle[]

Much like Construct 8, Construct 7 is an automaton job, having zero faith and the innate Atheist status. It has 50 bravery and the abilities Counter and Defense Boost. It is immune to all negative statuses except Confuse, and is immune to all elements except lightning (of which it is weak to) and water.

When Construct 7 is knocked out of action the first time, it will activate a reserve system, restoring it to a sliver of its HP. The second time its HP is reduced to 0, it will initiate a self-destruct program, which eliminates it in a swath of light.

Construct 7 is accompained by three cockatrices and two hydras. Their levels will be between 57 and 62 regardless of the player's party average level.

Strategy[]

The battle against Construct 7 at Nelveska Temple.

The battle against Construct 7 will vary on difficulty depending on the player's actions. If they only concern themselves with defeating Construct 7, the fight will be more simple. If the player seeks the exclusive, hidden rare treasures, and/or recruit the rare hydra enemies, then the player will have to make several preparations as they will be fighting a protracted battle of attrition that will rely on luck and their ability to recover.

Escutcheon and Javelin should be prioritized, with the former being a unique shield that can only be acquired in Nelveska Temple, which is a one-time battle. Sasuke's blade, while unique, is less powerful in comparison (and better ninja blades can be acquired in the Midlight's Deep secret dungeon) and the Nagnarok can be poached from wild boars. The player should bring a low bravery unit with Treasure Hunter for the best success chance. As the treasures lie on the top of the pillars at the entrance, which are at a normally impossible height to reach, the player will need a unit that can serve as a "platform" to be positioned next to the pillars to allow the units to jump to the top. Reis and Construct 8 work for this purpose, but will require the unit with Treasure Hunter to also have at least a jump value of 4.

Players will need to be efficient and prioritize some units with high damage like Cidolfus Orlandeau, as the cockatrices and hydras can deal high damage and the former can petrify units, so it is recommended to be immune to Stone. The cockatrices are more vulnerable so they should be killed first. The hydra are highly damaging and have several hundred HP, but are weak to ice and wind attacks, the former being more accessible. At this point in the game, icebrands are readily available, or if the player has stolen some, glacial guns are very effective. Magick jobs are ill advised as they have low HP, and the monsters are fast and have powerful physical attacks; Construct 7 might even KO them outright with its Dispose ability. Reis in her dragon form works great as she has high HP, access to Ice Breath, and can help units to reach the top of the pillars where the treasures lie.

In dealing with Construct 7, it is recommend to bring a unit with Dual Wield and the Arts of War skillset to debuff it, as Construct 7's attacks will easily result in instant KOs due to its high level; reducing Construct 7's speed to 1 with Rend Speed should be a priority to ensure the boss will take far less turns, followed by Rend Power to reduce the damage of its devastating Task abilities. If stolen from Meliadoul Tengille during the battle in Free City of Bervenia, or poached from swines, the player should equip said unit with a Chantage for a continuous supply of Reraise, allowing the unit to continue debuffing Construct 7. This not only has the benefit of making the battle more bearable, it will also prevent Construct 7 from accumulating recoil damage.

A unit with the samurai job will be helpful, especially if they can use Kiyomori for the Protect/Shell buffs, and Murasame for heals. The area attacks of the samurai job will be helpful to dispose of the cockatrices rapidly as they generally come forth from the onset with their speed and flight.

In terms of role compression, Reis (platform, high ice damage), a chemist (Treasure Hunter, Glacial Gun), a samurai skillset user (buffs, heals, high damage), a Dual Wield user with Rend Power and Rend Speed, will cover most of the fundamentals. Other effective units include Beowulf Cadmus, who can cripple the cockatrices and hydras with a variety of ailments, including Stone; and Mustadio Bunansa's Arm Shot and Leg Shot can keep those enemies at bay.

The Ivalice Chronicles makes it significantly easier to obtain the treasures in an array of ways. Chemists have innate Treasure Hunter active, so they can equip Ignore Elevation or Teleport to rapidly obtain the treasures without a unit server as a ladder. In the game's enhanced mode, the game autosaves the player's turns, meaning, if they fail to obtain the rare items, they can reset their turn and try again. The same holds true when recruiting monsters. Furthermore, the Chantage can be equipped by male units as well, making the aforementioned strategy more accessible.

Voice[]

In The Ivalice Chronicles, Construct 7 was given a voice. Contrasting with Construct 8, Construct 7 was given a deep male voice.
