Confuse is a status in Final Fantasy IX. Those afflicted spin and attack friends or foes randomly. Their accuracy is halved and they cannot evade. Many of the strongest bosses in the game attempt to inflict it onto the player's party. Unlike most statuses in Final Fantasy IX, Confuse does not expire on its own, so if the entire party gets confused the only way for them to stop acting erratically is to be hit or be healed with an Esuna spell.

Healing[]

Confuse is removed with being struck physically during it, and with the Esuna spell. Entering Trance also purges all ailments besides Virus, though does not render one immune. There is no healing item that removes Confuse. The player could use the mage party members' weak physical attack (Vivi, Dagger, Eiko) to deliberately sober up confused allies.

Enemies[]

The following enemies are immune to Confuse. All bosses except Red Dragon are immune.

Use[]

Zidane's Angel Bless with Soul Blade is likely the best way for the player to make use of Confuse, as the status will stick unless the enemy is outright immune. However, there are not that many good targets, as all bosses are immune and usually the player party has more members than the enemy party, meaning the chance the affected enemy still attacks the party is high.

Confuse is more of a hazard to the player, and the tough bosses in the game tend to use it. Notable example of this is the boss at Oeilvert. It would be pertinent to learn Clear Headed on everyone and use it against enemies that may inflict Confuse.
