The mured Moogle

Main Scenario 000: Confessions of the Creator is the third and final story mode in Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy. It can be purchased for 2,000 PP after the completion of Main Scenario 012: Treachery of the Gods, or is automatically unlocked by completing the original Dissidia story: Main Scenario 013: Light to All. In Confessions of the Creator the player may construct a party of any five characters from either alignment, and can swap them out while on the world map. It is designed to challenge high level characters, with enemies ranging from around level 50 all the way up to 130. Two gateways, "Curses of Hopes and Yore" and "Land of the Stolen Crown", appear as optional areas that approximate the Distant Glory storylines of the original Dissidia.

Completing this mode unlocks Feral Chaos as a playable character for 350 PP in the PP Catalog.

Story[]

Because of Cid's interference at the end of the thirteenth cycle, the pact between him and Shinryu is broken. Shinryu, seeking revenge over being denied the power of the summoned warriors, traps Cid in a nightmare realm where Chaos survived the 13th Cycle, and Chaos and his warriors defeat Cosmos each subsequent cycle until the eighteenth cycle, where Chaos is driven insane and slays both Cosmos's warriors and his own warriors, turning into Feral Chaos.

At the twentieth cycle, Feral Chaos seeks to kill Cosmos, who has lost the power to summon warriors, but she is saved by Cid who seals her within the Cavern of Earth. Chaos, denied his prey, instead goes against Shinryu, challenging its power. Cid saves himself and Cosmos by sealing off the northern continent where the two lay fighting, and eventually Feral Chaos goes dormant.

The world is now inhabited by moogles and manikins, and Cid is trapped in the form of a moogle, sealed at the bottom of a gateway with no memories. For a reason unknown even to Cid, five warriors (the five the player chooses) are summoned into the world and set out to rescue Cid. Cid directs the group to the north and eventually to the Land of Discord, recovering his memories along the way and describing the events of the nightmare world's past to them. Upon reaching the final gateway and destroying Feral Chaos, the nightmare world is destroyed and Cid is freed. As Feral Chaos perishes, he thanks the warriors for saving his "father", certain that the cycle will never repeat.

World Map[]

In this story mode the player gains the opportunity to explore the world map in its entirety, though one has to pass certain gateways to unlock new areas with each new "act" of the story. With every act little changes can be noticed, from the background music to what the Moogle Shops sell to what enemies are encountered.

There are five "acts" in the story:

Act I - the player must get to the Chasm of the Rotting Land gateway to save the "mured moogle". The player has full access to the southern continents, but the north is cut off.
Act II - the player is now accompanied by the mured moogle, who directs the player to the north. This unlocks the path to the Southern Lufenia gateway where a Level 95 Feral Chaos awaits, a manikin-like shade of the true Feral Chaos. The locked areas in previous gateways are opened.
Act III - the player is directed past the desert to the Conquered Trials gate. The teleport stones to the Mirage Sandsea and Citadel of Trials are unlocked. A handful of other characters, specters of other playable characters, appear and can be spoken to.
Act IV - the player is directed to the Confinement and Flight gateway in the Land of Discord. The teleport stone to the Bahamut Isles is unlocked, allowing access to the Dragon King's gateway. Some teleport stones to the Land of Discord are also unlocked.
Act V - the player is told a door to the Rift that the moogle and the player's party can escape through has opened, but first Chaos must be destroyed. All areas are unlocked, and the player must enter the Edge of Discord gateway to find and defeat Feral Chaos.

Assists[]

Assists work differently than in previous stories. Each region has a number of characters that may be used, and each time the player enters a gateway one of them spawns on the board at random, provided they are not in the player's current party. Speaking to their Assist will pit the party against that character in a battle. The Assist character will be Level 100, have their own Assist, and a full set of equipment and accessories.

When the battle ends, regardless of if the player won or fled, the Assist character will vanish from the board and the player must clear the gateway without their help. Some gateways position the Assist character blocking paths, forcing the player to challenge them to get them out of the way.

Use a Multichain at C4 to chain six of the seven enemies here. This gateway is useful to grind for AP due to the Accessories Protected emblem at C5, meaning that even accessories with a 100% chance to break will be safe. The two enemies directly adjacent will supply respectable AP without a chain if you have a full AP setup*(The equipment set Dazzling Diamond and the accessories Beckoning Cat, Diamond Ring, Diamond Necklace, and Diamond Studs. The accessory slots that remain, if all are obtained, can be filled with a Hero's Essence, two Hero's Spirits, a Valor Resin, and two Valor Incenses to be able to equip more abilities and start the battle with enough Bravery to defeat the opponent in one hit while still meeting the AP Chance (starting at about level 63 with a Diamond Helm and no other BRV modifying equipment), respectively.), but most abilities, with only a few exceptions, can be mastered in a single chain by using a Jump Chain if the calendar is supplying a +3 AP Bonus (for a total of 70 AP per battle with a +3 AP Chance) to add only the Fallacious Wanderer at D3 (leading to 210 AP at most), or a Straight Chain to catch five enemies if it isn't (leading to 200 AP at most from the five battles). It is up to the player, however, whether they would rather spend KP on the chains or exit and re-enter the Gateway more often.

The player should use a Multichain at A3 to chain all enemies at once. This gateway is a good place to earn KP before earning access to the northern areas. With nine enemies the player can win 81 KP under normal circumstances, tripled to 243 KP if they use a KP Gambler. A moogle close to the gateway sells Multichains and KP Gamblers for 10 KP each, allowing for net winnings of 223 KP every run, assuming the player lowers their level to the Bonus Line. This also leaves room in the player's skills to bring up to 3 KP Bonuses, allowing up to 1,944 KP to be won. Additionally, the player can enter the gateway with a Level 62 character and use the Banish/Death skill to instantly kill all enemies in the chain without a fight.

This Gateway offers the fastest way to gain large amounts of KP. If the player enters at Level 1, they will receive an initial bonus of 99 KP, which can be increased by defeating all enemies in the gateway and meeting the KP Chance requirements, including chaining the three enemies in the Party Battle Piece while on a KP +1 emblem. All of the enemies in this gateway are Strange Battle Pieces save for the last two enemies in the Party Battle Piece; the player can use Round-Robin rules to only need to fight one of the non-Strange enemies, and against that lone enemy (a Level 100 Transient Lion) the player can use an Iai Strike build, or the Magic Pot summon, to deal heavy damage in spite of their level difference. With all enemies in the gateway defeated, the player will be at 120 KP, which the Moogle Chalice will double to 240.

What makes this gateway the fastest way to earn KP is that, due to the Level 1 Bonus Line, they will receive an instant bonus of 99 KP, and the presence of the Moogle Chalice considerably boosts winnings. Because no Skills are needed to manually defeat the enemies, the player can bring five KP Bonus items and use them to double their winnings afterward, earning a total of 7,680 KP. Without KP Bonuses, this gateway's potential KP winnings are on-par with the Frozen Continent gateway, but the enemies to defeat are fewer and easier to kill due to being Strange.

The first part of the storyline mirrors the opening of Final Fantasy, with the player party appearing south of Cornelia to begin their journey. The first gateway encountered is the Gateway to Departure, which sits atop a bridge, a reference to the fact that for defeating Garland at the Chaos Shrine, the Warriors of Light were rewarded with the construction of a bridge to the north of Cornelia that let them access the rest of the world.

Confessions if the Creator is the only storyline in Dissidia 012 the player can never replay from the beginning. To play through the story from the beginning, the player must start an entirely new save file.
