Cletienne Duroi, also known as Kletian Drowa, is a minor character from Final Fantasy Tactics. He is one of two Knights Templar that accompanies the leader Folmarv Tengille.

History[]

Before he followed the fellow knight templar, Folmarv Tengille and Loffrey Wodring, to Mullonde Cathedral, Cletienne met Ramza Beoulve in Merchant City of Dorter. Ramza was on his way to Eagrose Castle to stop his elder brother, Dycedarg Beoulve, who had been given the Capricorn auracite by Loffrey, which Ramza knew puts him in danger of being possessed by a Lucavi demon.

Cletienne trapped Ramza by binding him with magick, stating it was of his own craft. As he attempted to finish Ramza off, Meliadoul Tengille, Folmarv's daughter, attacked him from behind and Cletienne recognized her. Meliadoul explained that she and her younger brother, Isilud Tengille, had been used by the templars and the Church of Glabados. Ramza and Meliadoul defeated Cletienne, but before he teleported away, Meliadoul asked if her father was possessed by a Lucavi. Cletienne told her to go see for herself.

Cletienne accompanied Folmarv and Loffrey in Mullonde Cathedral to betray the High Confessor Marcel Funebris, as the three deemed they no longer needed the Church's allegiance. The templars forced Funebris to divulge the location of the portal to the Necrohol of Mullonde before Loffrey mortally wounded him. On their way out, they were confronted by Ramza and Meliadoul, who tried to ask her father if he was possessed and had killed her younger brother, Isilud. Folmarv confirmed, and after gaining the Scriptures of Germonique from Ramza, they fled by teleportation.

They journeyed to Orbonne Monastery where the portal was located as per the scriptures. After posting a contingent of knights on the fourth basement of the Underground Book Storage, the three descended to the fifth level where Loffrey opened the portal, allowing Cletienne and Folmarv to cross over to Mullonde. Knowing that Ramza would likely pursue, Folmarv ordered Cletienne to remain behind to guard the entrance before continuing alone to the Airship Graveyard.

Ramza attempted to cross the portal, and encountered Cletienne. A battle ensued, and Cletienne, backed up by several allies, including a Time Mage and a Ninja, was killed. In The Ivalice Chronicles and before he was killed, Cletienne showed more of his personality, and when Meliadoul exhorted him that the Church's dogma, including her father Folmarv, who took the lead, were lies, Cletienne refuse to listen and remained blindly loyal to their false beliefs and even branded Meliadoul a heretic for her treachery, wanting to kill both her and Ramza with his own magicks.

Characteristics[]

Appearance[]

Cletienne has slicked back dark brown hair (light brown in the mobile app version) with two short fringes on each side and black eyes. Like most templar knights, despite his job as a sorcerer, he wears golden armor with a long gray/silver hooded cloak, golden pants with a gold belt at the side of his cloak, and golden boots.

In the mobile app version, his cloak changes into a different shades of gray and his belt is light brown, and his pants are now bronze and his boots are now brown.

Personality[]

Cletienne is loyal to the Church of Glabados and to his comrades in arms, Folmarv Tengille and Loffrey Wodring. In The War of the Lions enhanced port, he seems serious in his attempt to kill Ramza after binding him with magick of his own craft and is neutral towards Meliadoul who wants to confirm if her father Folmarv was possessed. In The Ivalice Chronicles, Cletienne shows more of his personality as an antagonist and appears more narcissistic. Like Confessor Zalmour who blindly aims to seek justice against Ramza as a heretic, Cletienne is blindly loyal to the Church's dogma and his alliance with Folmarv and Loffrey though Meliadoul tries to convince him the Church's beliefs are both evil and lies, only for him to brand her as a heretic like Ramza. Cletienne is knowledgeable about the auracite in how Saint Ajora used them for their limitless power.

Cletienne is not aware of the true nature of the Lucavi's plot, similar to Loffrey, despite being one of Folmarv's highest ranking men, and believes that their ambitions will create equality among the people of Ivalice and allow everyone to have their fair share in life.

Gameplay[]

Boss[]

Cletienne is fought twice (thrice in The War of the Lions version); the first being at Mullonde Cathedral Nave, the final battle at Necrohol of Mullonde, and the other in an optional battle at Merchant City of Dorter. In the optional War of the Lions battle, he is level 40 with 51 bravery and 81 faith, and comes equipped with the rare dragon rod, as well as a gold hairpin, elven cloak, and Gaia gear.

He has access to powerful spells via his Magicks command, and also uses the Magick Counter, Magick Defense Boost, and Ignore Elevation passives. In this battle, he is susceptible to Blindness, Silence, Oil, Slow, and Immobilize.

It is not required to defeat all enemies or KO Cletienne; simply reducing his HP to 20% of his max HP is enough to win the battle. This battle will disappear if not done before completing Eagrose Castle. In the first actual battle at Mullonde Cathedral, he is level 45 but retains everything from the exclusive optional battle in War of the Lions.

In the final battle at the necrohol, he is level 54 and equipped with the Zeus mace, Lambent hat, black garb, and featherweave cloak. He has access to Magicks, Magick Surge, Magick Defense Boost, and Fly, and is immune to all negative statuses except the ones from previously. Cletienne is the only character who can cast the Unholy Darkness (PS: Dark Holy) spell during his third and final fight with Ramza.

Rendezvous[]

Cletienne can be fought in the War of the Lions enhanced port in the tenth Rendezvous battle: The Knights Templar. Here, he is 5 levels higher than the highest leveled deployed unit, and has 51 bravery and 81 faith. He comes equipped with a wizard rod and other random equipment, and has access to Magicks while his other abilities are randomized. He is immune to the same statuses as previously.

When fought in the fourteenth Rendezvous battle: Brave Story, he is level 99 and starts with 97 bravery and 81 faith. He comes equipped with wizard rod, thief's hat, luminous robe, and a random accessory. He has access to the Magicks command, as well as to the abilities Magick Counter, Arcane Strength, Manafont, and another random ability. He is immune to the same statuses as previously.
