Clash on Big Bridge is the sixteenth chapter in World of Final Fantasy.
Story[]
Traveling west from Figaro Castle, Lann and Reynn reach Big Bridge, leading up and off the lower continent. They speculate as to who could have built the megastructure; the bridge's caretaker, Eiko, explains that the bridge is actually a Mirage, Big Bridge Alexander, summoned long ago by a Jiant. Eiko worries that, per the Azure Prophecy, the Jiants from the Hills might bring salvation or ruin to the world. She considers not letting them pass, but ultimately decides that she wouldn't be able to stop them from crossing if the prophecy wills it. They all agree that they want to see the world saved. Eiko sends the siblings on their way at terrifying, breakneck speed. Then the Plumed Knight appears to confront Eiko. After insinuating that she has already defeated Rydia and the Mist Dragon, the Plumed Knight attacks Eiko and her Esper, Fenrir. Lann and Reynn find that the bridge's platform has stopped only a short distance up the bridge, forcing them to walk the rest of the way. They are joined by the traveler Bartz and his chocobo partner Boko. Near the top, they are accosted by Gilgamesh, who ostentatiously proclaims his revenge against Bartz. But Gilgamesh seems confused about his own past and motivation, and Bartz doesn't know him. After the party send Gilgamesh fleeing, Bartz and Boko take their leave. Lann and Reynn step off the bridge and into the Eclipsed Region.
