Description
The Circlet is the ultimate light armor headgear in Final Fantasy IX. It can be equipped by everyone bar Steiner and Freya. The Circlet teaches the passive abilities Clear Headed and Jelly, which protect against status abnormalities. The Circlet is one of only two light armor headgear made via synthesis. It nullifies Earth damage to the wearer.
Obtain[]
Outer Island 2 chocograph.
The Circlet is first available from the Outer Island 2 chocograph treasure, reachable once Choco can fly. To get a flying Choco, the player needs to progress the Chocobo Hot and Cold quest after they get Hilda Garde III.
The Circlet is synthesized in Black Mage Village after the events in Pandemonium for 20,000 gil, a Coronet, and a Rosetta Ring. Coronets can be bought from Daguerreo, and Rosetta Rings can likewise be synthesized in Black Mage Village.
The Circlet is also a reward for defeating the Behemoth in Treno's weapon shop after the events in Pandemonium.
Mechanics[]
The Circlet provides 51 Magic Defense, mitigating damage from magic attacks. It nullifies Earth damage to the wearer, but the only battle where this matters at this point is Lich in the final dungeon.
Use[]
The Circlet is best defensive light armor hat worthwhile to equip unless the player is level grinding (when stat boost gear is better) or when the character needs certain elemental properties; the Earth immunity from the Circlet is hardly useful.
The guest characters from Tantalus can also wear the Circlet, but the player cannot see this in a normal playthrough.
