Chocobo breeding is a sidequest in Final Fantasy Type-0 that can be undertaken at the Chocobo Ranch. It allows the player to breed various chocobos for use in RTS missions and for riding on the world map. Though caught all around Orience, breeding is required to produce some of the higher quality, rarer chocobos. Each breeding period lasts 6 hours.

Breeding process[]
To breed chocobos the player must have at least two birds, one male one female, and some greens. Visiting the ranch during free time, the player can talk to the chocobo attendant and choose to breed their birds by choosing the male and the female to be bred and the green to give them. Six hours of in-game time later, the birds will have hatched and are added to the player's "chocobo inventory". The player can immediately breed more birds, but only one pair can be bred at any one time. In Chapter 8 the ranch becomes inaccessible. The player can increase the amount of chocobos bred at once by using certain types of greens, though there is a rare possibility at anytime to max a particular chocobo type's stock to 99 in a single session, regardless of how many the player began with.
Etymology[]
(チョコボール, Chokobōru?). The mascot for this product is Kyoro-chan (キョロちゃん?), a bird who says "kweh".
The name "chocobo" derives from a Japanese brand of chocolate malt ball by Morinaga, ChocoBall食う / くう / kuu is a rough way to say "eat", whose volitional casual form is 食え / くえ / kue ("let's scoff 'em down!"), leading to Kweh!
