Battle[]

Much like the Chocobo Eater in Final Fantasy X, this Chocobo Eater is vulnerable to the Fire element. Therefore, having a Black Mage (or Red Elemental in the International + Last Mission and HD Remaster versions) in the party is useful. A good party is a Black Mage, a Warrior, and either a White Mage or an Alchemist (depending on whether or not the player has already completed the Chocobo Ranch mission).

The Warrior should use Armor Break and Mental Break, followed by Flametongue. Considering the fairly low HP of this boss, one may wish to skip Armor Break and Mental Break. The Black Mage should cast Fira or Firaga, while the White Mage casts Protect and Cura on the party. A few uses of Floral Fallal's Heat Whirl can also finish this boss in just a couple of turns.

Etymology[]

The name "chocobo" derives from a Japanese brand of chocolate malt ball by Morinaga, ChocoBall (チョコボール, Chokobōru?). The mascot for this product is Kyoro-chan (キョロちゃん?), a bird who says "kweh".

食う / くう / kuu is a rough way to say "eat", whose volitional casual form is 食え / くえ / kue ("let's scoff 'em down!"), leading to Kweh!
