Chocobo's Lagoon is a lagoon in the Salvage Archipelago in Final Fantasy IX. Choco can find Chocographs and Chocograph Pieces in the lagoon as part of the Chocobo Hot and Cold minigame. The lagoon can be reached easily by a sea chocobo, but can be accessed with a reef chocobo if the party has either the Blue Narciss boat, or Hilda Garde III or Invincible airships.
Originally, only half of the lagoon is searchable, but once Choco gains the ability to travel on deep water, the player can search the entire lagoon.
Musical themes[]
"Aloha de Chocobo" plays while in Chocobo's Lagoon. During the search for treasures in Chocobo Hot and Cold, the music switches to "Vamo'alla flamenco".
Etymology[]
The name "chocobo" derives from a Japanese brand of chocolate malt ball by Morinaga, ChocoBall (チョコボール, Chokobōru?). The mascot for this product is Kyoro-chan (キョロちゃん?), a bird who says "kweh".
食う / くう / kuu is a rough way to say "eat", whose volitional casual form is 食え / くえ / kue ("let's scoff 'em down!"), leading to Kweh!
