Chimera Brain is a Soul of Rebirth enemy in Final Fantasy II. It is a palette swap of the common Chimeras, meant to resemble the Chimera species introduced in Final Fantasy IV. They are among the weaker enemies in the area, though they boast high Defense. Using strong spells of level 8 or higher should suffice until the party can raise their Strength high enough to damage them sufficiently. It is highly recommended to avoid using Fire, Blizzard, or Thunder, as they can absorb all three spells. Their Blaze XVI attack is but a mere nuisance, their main damage coming from their physical attacks.
If the player wishes to train anyone in knives, the Chimera Brain has a low chance of dropping the Cat Claws, the best generic knife weapon in the game.

Etymology[]
The chimera is a fire-breathing monster, one of the offspring of Typhon and Echidna. It is commonly represented with a lion's head, a goat's body, and a serpent's tail in Greek mythology. In modern usage, the term chimera is often taken to mean any sort of hybrid between two or more species.
