Chickatrice is an enemy in Final Fantasy XV fought in Cleigne in the Vesperpool region. Chickatrices are docile creatures with a cute appearance; however they should be taken with caution as their presence also indicates that basilisks and cockatrices are not far behind.
If they or their parents are attacked, the whole flock will join in the battle. Chickatrices are easy to take out, but can tackle to throw team members off guard. They are weak to daggers, firearms and lightning; as it often rains at Vesperpool, lightning magic is thus especially potent. The player can also character-swap to Ignis and use his stormdagger abilities.
Bestiary
- A baby bird living near the Vesperpool. It is all but impossible to discern a young male from a young female at first glance. A normally docile creature, the chickatrice will only attack in self-defense—and inflict considerable damage on its assailant when it does.

Stats
Etymology
The name is a portmanteau of "chick" and "cockatrice." The Cockatrice is a creature from mythology. It is similar to the basilisk in appearance and ability, but also possesses flight. A cockatrice is born from an egg hatched by a rooster and incubated by a toad, and its gaze causes instant petrification.
The Japanese name is also the same portmanteau, using the Japanese word for "chick" (雛鳥, hinadori?).
