The Charybdis is an enemy from Final Fantasy III. They can be found underwater in the Surface World, usually in trios or accompanied by a Noggle. Charybdis are relatively easy targets by the time the player reaches them and, in the remakes, they are very weak to lightning spells.

Etymology[]
In Greek mythology, Charybdis was once a beautiful naiad and the daughter of Poseidon and Gaia. She takes form as a huge bladder of a creature whose face was all mouth and whose arms and legs were flippers and who swallows a huge amount of water three times a day before belching it back out again, creating whirlpools.
