Chapter 3, titled Chapter 3: Edge in the Event Viewer, is the third chapter of Dirge of Cerberus -Final Fantasy VII-. The chapter comprises Vincent Valentine time Edge battling Deepground.
The chapter contains the gameplay stage Silent Edge, and is divided into four subchapters, with the final boss of the chapter being the Heavy Armored Soldier.
Story[]
As Vincent arrives in Edge during a storm, Rosso the Crimson calmly sits among a pile of bodies of WRO troops she's slain, amused at Weiss' words during his broadcast. As Vincent proceeds through the empty streets of Edge, he is approached by Shalua Rui. Both draw their weapons on each other, until Vincent notices that she wears a WRO badge on her coat. The pair introduce themselves, with Shaula explaining that she was in Edge on "other business" but felt something was wrong, as the streets were too quiet, with no signs of Deepground, the WRO squads sent in to confront them, nor the 500 people living in the area. Despite this strangeness, Shaula dismisses her concerns as she returns to her business: her search for "[her] reason to live".
Vincent finds a single dying WRO member in an alleyway that manages to informs him that his squad was defeated in a warehouse at the edge of town by Rosso, and that Deepground was gathering civilians, before passing on. On his way to the warehouse, Vincent is accosted by snipers and saves a child from Deepground pursuers, who points Vincent in the direction to the warehouse and asks him to avenge his parents. Upon reaching the warehouse, Vincent is attacked by a Heavy Armored Soldier and his troops. Vincent then encounters Rosso, who is marveling at the feeling of rain on her skin, which she had never felt before. Recognising him as Vincent Valentine "keeper of the Protomateria", she demands he hand it over despite Vincent's evident confusion, claiming it the key to controlling Omega. At his taciturn attitude, she attacks, forcing Vincent to turn into Chaos. Exhausted, Vincent passes out as he sees Shalua approach him.
