Oh, shut up and help me remodel the Chapter 3 (Crisis Core) page!
Chapter 3, also known as An Angel's Dream and Angels Dream of One Thing,[note 1] is the third chapter in Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-. The chapter comprises the events when Zack Fair, who is promoted to SOLDIER 1st Class by Lazard Deusericus at the beginning of the chapter's events, defends Midgar from an attack by an army led by Genesis Rhapsodos. Later during the chapter, Zack and Sephiroth take the battle to Mako Reactor 5, where Genesis is spotted, and Zack meets Cissnei on the way. The boss of the chapter is a group of three Shinra Electric Power Company robots.
Story[]
Back at Shinra Building after his mission in Banora Village, Zack is promoted to SOLDIER 1st Class by SOLDIER director Lazard Deusericus.
Genesis and his army launch an assault upon the headquarters. Zack fights his way through, rescuing the Turk, Cissnei, on his way to Mako Reactor 5, where Sephiroth says Angeal has been spotted. Zack is reluctant to hunt down his old mentor, but Sephiroth informs him that he plans to deliberately let Angeal escape before the Shinra Electric Power Company finds him, something Zack keenly agrees to.
The two find monsters that have Angeal's face on their bodies, similar to the Genesis copies that comprise Genesis's army. They find documents on Jenova Project G, the branch of the Jenova Project that created both Genesis and Angeal, but was deemed a failure. Sephiroth believes that the "G" stands for Project Genesis, and learns Genesis is suffering from degradation, slowly dying because of the circumstances of his birth.
Sephiroth then reminisces of a training exercise between himself, Angeal, and Genesis in the Shinra Virtual Reality System. In the flashback, Genesis had the book of LOVELESS with him, envisioning himself and his two SOLDIER 1st Class comrades as the three men foretold in the epic. Genesis wanted to fill the role of the "Hero" in the story, envying Sephiroth's fame as a SOLDIER hero, and challenged him alone to prove his superiority, leading to a long battle until Angeal intervened. Genesis sustained a wound in his shoulder and later received a blood transfusion from Angeal (as Sephiroth's blood was incompatible), overseen by a former Shinra scientist Dr. Hollander, the man behind Project G. The wound would not heal, and was the start of Genesis's degradation.
Zack and Sephiroth then learned that Genesis since joined forces with Hollander, who claims to be able to cure him, but is secretly using him to get personal revenge against Shinra.
As Genesis confronts Sephiroth, Zack tries to capture Hollander in the mako reactor. Angeal arrives and shows Zack his white wings, saying he has become a monster. Zack tries to convince his former mentor his wings do not belong to a monster but to an angel, but Angeal says angels dream to be human. Zack refuses to fight his old friend, and Angeal sends Zack plummeting down into the Midgar Slums.
