In the game, the theme is split into three different parts for the battle with Chaos, and each of the three portions of the track loop during the player's three battles with him. The pieces of the song are called "DFF - Chaos: Last Battle", with a number suffix 1, 2, or 3 afterward to denote the portion of the song. When chosen for a fight, only that specific piece of the track is heard, looping as during the battle with Chaos. In both ''Dissidia'' and ''Dissidia 012'', the player must defeat Chaos before the tracks can be selected.

Lyrics

First portion (0:00 to 1:43)

The Messenger is
Standing at the gate.
Ready to let go,
Ready for the crush.

Too late for whispers,
Too late for the blush.
The past is mercy,
When the future's glow.

Kneeling journey,
Dressed in a cloak of shadows.
The hunting's grim for the innocent eyes.
Communion's pray is a cup of sorrows.
But faith is colors,
For the humbling cries.

Second portion (1:44 to 3:27)

The pilgrims are gathering and the marching band,
The marching band's howling.
Compassion is the flag a righteous man,
A righteous man will hold.
The pilgrims are gathering and the marching band,
The marching band's howling.
Compassion is the flag a righteous man,
A righteous man will hold.

Third portion (3:28 to 5:41)

The spirit is over town,
Waiting for me to hit the floor.
Blooming white sky for the voice of one calling tonight
Tonight fate is the red crown,
The red crown around your door.
Time's scattering the seeds of the morning daylight.

Trivia

In the US version of Dissidia, during Time Attack against Chaos, the battle track will loop back to "DFF - Chaos: Last Battle 1" during the second and third turn, much like the Japanese version.
