Chaos is the final boss of the original Final Fantasy.

Strategy

Being the final boss in the game, Chaos is an extremely powerful enemy. His physical attacks can do 400 HP worth of damage against a single character. He can cast the powerful third level elemental spells Blizzaga, Firaga and Thundaga, but those are actually his weakest attacks. Chaos can also use instant death attacks like Earthquake. He also has access to special elemental spells like Blaze, Tornado, and Tsunami. One of the more annoying spells in Chaos's arsenal is Slowra which can severely limit how much damage the party can inflict on Chaos on any given round.

A player's best bet to defeat Chaos (unless extremely highly leveled) is to keep Protera on all characters to limit Chaos's physical damage. Then use NulBlaze, NulShock and NulFrost to further limit Chaos offensive potential. Always keep at least one character healing each round and keep the party's HP at 500 each as a minimum. Use Haste, Temper and Giant's Gloves on your physical attackers, while magic users should stick to Flare as their primary attack either as the magic spell or using the Judgment Staff.

It is notable that Chaos has gotten tougher with each subsequent remake. In the original, the Warmech enemy had the same HP as him, while in the Dawn of Souls version Chaos has 10 times as much health.

Not being very different from the Dawn of Souls version, Chaos has the same amount of HP and Resistances. Still, as the Final Boss, he can prove to be very difficult. The best way to defeat him, is to use the Nul spells to streghten your elemental and magic defenses, also cast Protera and Invisira to nullify his phisical attacks wich could around 500 damage, also buff your attackers with Haste and Temper, also the Giant's Glove is useful for casting Saber, make sure you heal your characters with Curaga, Curaja, and/or Healaga if you have a White Wizard. Cast Flare with your Black Wizard, and Holy with your White Wizard when you don't need healing, eventually he will go down.
