Cataract Aevis is a dragon/plate wyrm-type enemy in Final Fantasy XII found in the Pharos. They rarely drop the Caldera.

Page 1: Observations[]
- Being a dragon with a carapace of deep-sea blue, found living in the Pharos. These creatures spend their infant stage in the great cataract surround the island upon which the Pharos was built. Their aquatic origin is discernible in the water grooves cut into their scales, and the smooth slipperiness of their hides. Though they possess eyes, they cannot see well in the gloom of the Pharos, and rely primarily on their acute hearing to detect prey and predator alike.

Etymology[]
The English name is a double reference to the great waterfall where the monster is found, and the medical condition that leads to a decrease in vision, The Japanese name is a reference to a monster from the Final Fantasy IV, "strato" meaning "lies above the earth's weather", like stratus cloud; and avis from Latin, meaning bird.
