Carrot (キャロット, Kyarotto? or キャロットちゃん, Kyarotto Chan?, lit. Carrot-chan), also known as the Morbolger, is a recurring creature in the Final Fantasy series. While mentioned in Final Fantasy Tactics, it first appears in Final Fantasy XII. Either a mark or a regular mission, Carrot is always an out of control pet who needs to be put down. In all instances Carrot is a stronger, and often larger, Malboro.
Appearances[]
Final Fantasy XII[]
Carrot appears as an Elite Mark. It is the pet of Mme. Zammadria. When Zammadria brought Carrot to Nalbina while visiting her husband, Carrot ran away to the Salikawood. Fearing a scandal for rearing such a pet, Mme. Zammadria contacted Montblanc and hired Clan Centurio to vanquish the creature. Notably, Carrot is flagged as an undead enemy. By defeating Carrot, the player is awarded with the title "Freshmaker". A sprite of Carrot will appear in the Sky Pirate's Den using its bad breath attack.
Final Fantasy XIV[]
The Morbolger appears as an enemy encountered during Passing the Smell Test. While larger and stronger than the average morbol, it is not a major threat. While its English name is taken from Final Fantasy XI's Morbolger (オルデール, Moruborugā?), its Japanese name is "Carrot-chan" (キャロットちゃん, Kyarotto Chan?). The quest also mentions the Morbolger being rumored to be an escaped pet, referencing Carrot's background in other entries.
Final Fantasy XVI[]
Carrot appears as a B rank notorious mark whose hunt can be accepted after finding a part for Midadol Telamon inside the Hideaway's orchestrion during "Like Father, Like Daughter." It can be found in Rosaria's Whispering Waters area. Felling it earns 10,000 gil, 20 renown points, and a Morbol Tendril and a Morbol Flower. The tendril can be used to rejuvenate the garden inside the Hideaway as part of the sidequest "Please Sir, Can I Have Some Morbol"; completing the quest makes Clive's potions stronger.
Final Fantasy Tactics[]
Carrot doesn't actually appear, but is mentioned during the "My Little Carrot" errand and its subsequent report "Call of the Wild." It is the pet malboro of Countess Zalmasse, with the errand entailing tracking it down to return it do its owner.
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance[]
Carrot appears as an enemy encountered during "Mission #095: "Carrot!" Unlike other appearances, Carrot is a normal Malboro simply named Carrot. Once found in Jagd Helje, the party must defeat it to complete the mission.
Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift[]
Carrot appears as an enemy encountered during the quest "My Little Carrot." It requires the player to go to Zedlei Forest and defeat Carrot along with the other malboros there. As with Tactics Advance, Carrot is a normal Malboro simply named Carrot.
