Camillo is a playable character in War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. Though originally from Heindler, he enlisted into Rundall's army, hoping to become more popular with the ladies. Upon meeting princess Machérie Hourne, he falls head over heels for her, and abandons his duties to rescue her. He is also known as the Hound of the West.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Camillo is an attractive dark-skinned young man with dark hair and eyes. His chestplate has a layer of white clothing with a short skirted ends with plates covering his sides and tied with a disorderly belt. He wears armored leggings and black pants.
Under his armor Camillo wears a set of brown clothing to cover his shoulders patterned with red, ending with metallic adornments close to his hands. He wears orange ribbons on his shoulders, and a long yellow cape with an orange logo.
As a dragoon, he wears a head accessory resembling dragon ears and a cross-shaped spear with a red ribbon.
Personality[]
Camillo is passionate, and confident on his looks and abilities. Although vain, Camillo is a romanticist who constantly daydreams about his potential perfect love. Due to inexperience with the opposite gender, Camillo entertains self-made fantasies in which he plays the part of a gallant knight saving damsels in distress and even acts them out in public much to the bafflement of those around him.
As a result of his delusions, flirty and even jokester nature, many women view him as unintelligent and don't take him seriously. However, when the situation calls for it, Camillo can be quite smart and shows genuine dedication and effort. Although sometimes passing off as arrogant, his confidence isn't unjustified for he has proven himself a skilled combatant.
Initially appearing to not take things with the proper commitment, Camillo falls head over heels for Machérie Hourne, to the extent he would infiltrate Leonis Castle alone to rescue her, although not fully considering the extent of the task or even know where to look. His love for Machérie is genuine nonetheless, as he nearly loses his life while trying to save her. He halts his advances when he realizes Machérie is in love with Prince Mont of Leonis, and vows to improve himself in a rare show of introspection.
Camillo has a unique dynamic with Elsirelle, the two exchanging "straight man" and "funny man" roles, being annoyed by her tendency to fall asleep and general air-headedness, but also being called out for his delusions. He nonetheless cares for her and the two end up being an effective duo in battle. In the end Elsirelle chooses to depart Leonis to follow Camillo, with any possible development in their relationship remaining unknown.

Betrayal - Chapter 6[]
In "White Fang", Camillo arrives near Hourne Castle, wondering about the lack of security, when he finds Dario Hourne dead in the fields outside. He finds no signs of fatal wounds, but notes the prince's peaceful expression, as if he had been released from all pain in death.
Camillo notices that he is being observed and demands the onlooker to show themselves. He recognizes the woman, Deah, as a soldier of Ovis, who has came to Hourne to seek reinforcements, not unlike his own mission. Camillo comments on the sorry state of Hourne and asks what Deah will do with all hope of saving Ovis seemingly lost. He muses about her beauty and gives her a choice: take his hand, or die by it. Deah opts to fight him and Camillo quickly explains he is actually from Heindler, not from Rundall but pretending to fight in Rundall's army makes him more popular with the ladies. He resigns himself to fight her when Deah is disgusted by his attitude.
In "Polluted Bloodline", the two are interrupted by the arrival of Machérie Hourne, Xiza and Vistralle. Camillo attempts to flirt with Machérie. After all present parties have introduced themselves, Xiza spots Dario. Machérie suspects Camillo killed him after Deah denies any part. With Xiza and Vistralle deeming Camillo a hindrance they push for a fight, leaving Camillo no choice but to defend himself.
In "The Lion and the Wolf", being driven into a corner Camillo retreats. Xiza and Vistralle reveal their true colors as Sanctum spies and take Machérie prisoner, escorting her to Leonis Castle.
To Press the Advantage - Chapter 7[]
IN "Muraga's Imperial Guard", Camillo observes the happenings in Leonis Castle from the nearby hills. He is torn between his mission and reporting back to King Jayden Rundall about Hourne's pitiful state, and going to Machérie's rescue, fearing that she will be executed. He proclaims to "live for the sake of love" and infiltrates Leonis Castle.
Time of Rebellion - Chapter 8[]
In "Bloody Dawn", Camillo acts out a dramatic scene of him rescuing the princess and her falling for him, until he notices that he's being observed. The woman asks if he's done with play-acting and draws her sword. She is Elsirelle, a Leonis soldier, who doesn't belong to any division. Camillo introduces himself, but denies belonging to any nation. Elsirelle lowers her blade when Camillo explains himself. She calls him a fool, and questions his story of the fallout in Hourne, pointing out that Leonis Castle is occupied by Sanctum monks, not Hourne deserters. Camillo is in disbelief that she slept through all that transpired. Sanctum monks find the pair and they are forced to fight them off together.
Camillo hurries to Elsirelle's side when she lies on the ground, only to find her deep asleep. He wonders how she can fall asleep in such a situation only for her to shrug it off and suggest they go find Machérie, before dozing off again. With Camillo despairing Elsirelle reminds him that she knows the castle inside out and to leave the search to her.
Sacred Land Aflame - Chapter 9[]
In "Futile Hopes", Camillo and Elsirelle overhear some Fennes soldiers talking about how Wezette and Leonis have dissolved their alliance and that the Leonis groups are on their way back to Leonis Castle, mentioning how Mont Leonis has fallen for Machérie. Camillo is displeased, vowing to make her fall for him. He play-acts his rescuing of Machérie until he realizes Elsirelle is amusedly watching him. Flustered, he tells her to hurry on.
Successor to the Leonis Throne - Chapter 10[]
In "A Deviating Fate", Camillo and Elsirelle glimpse prince Sterne Leonis, the two wondering what business a Leonis prince has with traitors to Hourne. Camillo suggests Hourne might not be the only kingdom with internal struggles.
Camillo is concerned that they still haven't found Machérie but Elsirelle assures she knows the castle well, but doesn't know where Machérie is being held. She refuses to tell Camillo her hunch of where the princess may be kept because it would make her look bad if she's wrong. Camillo deduces that, prisoner or not, Machérie is a royal, and as such would be confined in the private chambers of the queen.
Promised Reunion - Chapter 11[]
In "Conviction", Sterne approaches Camillo and Elsirelle from behind, and realizes Elsirelle slept through Leonis Castle's occupation, telling her that he no longer belongs to Leonis. Camillo explains he came to rescue Machérie and threatens Sterne to not get in his way. The former prince takes the challenge.
Camillo admits that he underestimated Sterne. Elsirelle warns him that he's no match for the former prince, but upon seeing the dragoon's determination, she joins by his side. Camillo is surprised and asks if she's fallen for him, offering to just be friends, annoying Elsirelle with his lack of tact. Even fighting together, Sterne proves too strong an opponent. Camillo refuses to give up, professing his love for Machérie. The princess arrives with Xiza, Camillo overjoyed to see her, declaring that he came to rescue her. The princess calls him a fool and asks about Elsirelle, who introduces herself.
In "I'm Still a Hundred-Percent Your Man", Xiza reveals that she was a double agent and that Sterne killing Vistralle forced her to reveal her true allegiance prematurely. Machérie asks whether Sterne really plans to fight all of them, and posits they stand no chance against him, no matter their numbers. During the ensuing battle, in which Sterne is joined by Fennes soldiers, Machérie is wounded and Xiza jumps between her and Sterne to take him on, but is quickly felled. Camillo rushes to Machérie's side, though Sterne points out that the dragoon's legs are trembling. Camillo admits that he's never been as afraid in his life, and that his old self would have long ran away, but meeting Machérie has changed him, and he wants to protect her even at the cost of his life.
Camillo launches at Sterne but is blocked and kicked away. With Elsirelle losing her will to fight, Machérie calls out for Mont, which Sterne calls pointless. Mont arrives alongside King Robb Hourne and some Leonis soldiers. Camillo remarks how the reinforcements stole the show, but soon recognizes Mont as his rival for Machérie's affection.
The Serpent - Chapter 12[]
In "Following the Heart", when Sterne is about to fight Mont, Elsirelle and Camillo assist him, with the latter remarking that while it doesn't sit well with him to help a rival, he will do so for the woman he loves. Together, they push Sterne back, but Mont says they can't beat him under the current conditions. Elsirelle attempts to explain that even if they beat Sterne, they could not handle all his soldiers. Mont appeals to his brother's previous promise to fight him with honor, which can't be realized as long as Mont has to worry about Machérie's safety. After promising he won't run from their duel, the younger twin lets them go.
In "Escaping Leonis Castle", Sanctum monks who oppose Sterne's decision to let them go attack them. Fighting their assailants off, they reach the castle courts where Camillo collapses, Machérie rushing to his side. Camillo gives a dying speech, asking Machérie to find happiness without him. The princess cries only to realize the dragoon's been tricking her so she would embrace him. Furious, she slaps and berates him. Camillo interjects that he might actually die if she continues, but is surprised by how emotional she got. Mont arrives, and Machérie falls into his arms, leaving Camillo on the ground.
Mont and Machérie try to convince Camillo to stay and fight with them, but the dragoon knows his shortcomings, promising to return once he's worthy of Machérie and leaves. Elsirelle joins him, with Mont's permission.
