The Calcobrena, also known as Calcabrina, Calbrina, and Calbrena, is a boss in Final Fantasy IV. It appears during the battle with the Calco and the Brina dolls after a certain amount of time passes and the enemies are not defeated. If this happens, the remaining dolls will use Combine, and the party will have to battle the Calcobrena. If the party does not wait for Calcobrena to be invoked, it will be missable in the bestiary.

Glance (GBA).
Calcobrena can be dangerous because it uses Glance to charm a character and can cause large amounts of damage. If the Calcobrena is not defeated within a certain amount of time, it will revert to the Calco and Brina dolls with all their HP; the dolls can then recombine into a fully healed Calcobrena in they are not defeated in turn.
It is important that Cecil has high HP at the battle's end; otherwise, the battle that follows immediately after this battle will become very difficult, if not impossible.

If the party is at a high enough level, Calcobrena should not pose much of a threat, and there is also a simple method to taking it down without it transforming. The dolls will only transform into Calcobrena when all of one group of dolls have been defeated. By alternating dolls and leaving one Brina remaining, it can be quickly defeated before being able to transform.
Etymology[]
Calcabrina is one of the Malebranche demons in Dante's Divine Comedy. His name means "he who can walk on brine".
