Cúchulainn is associated with the element of Poison, and is also referred to as the Vrishchika Ascendant, which is the Sanskrit name of its Zodiac sign as used in Jyotish (Hindu) astrology. To strengthen his relation to the Scorpio sign, he is given an enormous tail hidden inside his body.

In the International Zodiac Job System version, depending on which character his license is given, Cúchulainn unlocks new abilities for the user: Libra for the White Mage, Wither for the Uhlan, a Magick Lore augment to the Machinist, Black Magick spells Firaga, Thundaga, Blizzaga and Sleepga for the Red Mage, a Battle Lore augment for the Knight, the Shades of Black Technick for the Breaker, Stamp for the Mononofu and the White Magick spells Protectga and Shellga for the Shikari.

Attacks
Malaise: A non-elemental attack that functions like Drain.

Blight: A non-elemental attack, and Cúchulainn's ultimate attack. Cúchulainn is transported to a forest. He gives a deep belly laugh, then jumps into the air. He quivers for a moment, then a giant red tail (stinger) shoots out of his back and plants itself into the ground, pumping poison into the earth and damaging the enemy.

Cúchulainn is the only Esper to use normal attacks instead of special attacks. He is exceptionally helpful if his summoner is to use full-effect capacity spells, as he can deal above 4,000 damage with normal attacks.

In the International Zodiac Job System version, Cúchulainn gains Bio and the Null Vitality augment.

Cuch

Cúchulainn, the Impure in Final Fantasy XII.

Scion created to rid the world of its impurities by swallowing them within himself, in opposition to Nabriales the Majestic, scion of light. The world, however, was more filled with impurity and corruption than even the gods dared imagine, and having swallowed it all, the once beautiful Cúchulainn was transformed into a hideous thing, a deity of filth, and so did he turn against his creators. Wherever his feet should fall, there all life withers to dust.

Cúchulainn the Impure (/kəˈhʊlɨn/ in English, although the Japanese name suggests it should be pronounced /kjʊˈkʊleɪn/, cue-cuh-lane) (不浄王キュクレイン, Fujō Ō Kyukurein?, lit. Cúchulainn, King of the Impure), also written Cuchulaínn, is a creature from the world of Ivalice. Cúchulainn has appeared as both a summon of Poison and one of the Lucavi, and is always associated the sign Scorpio, the Scorpion, shown by his poisonous nature.

Appearances

Final Fantasy XII

Cúchulainn is associated with the element of Poison, and is also referred to as the Vrishchika Ascendant, which is the Sanskrit name of its zodiac sign as used in Jyotish (Hindu) astrology. To strengthen his relation to the Scorpio sign, he is given an enormous tail hidden inside his body.

Cúchulainn is an optional Esper found in the Garamsythe Waterway under Rabanastre, perhaps attracted by the surrounding sewage (or the cause of it).

Cúchulainn's license costs 50 LP, and he requires two Mist Charges to summon. Cúchulainn cannot receive Bubble status.

Etymology

Cúchulainn is an Irish mythological hero who appears in the stories of the Ulster Cycle, as well as in Scottish and Manx folklore. "Cú" is the Irish word for hound—"Cúchulainn" is literally "Hound of Chulainn". "Cúchulainn" is technically mispronounced in the series, being closer to "coo-hullen" as audible in the following reading from Irish myths by Ronnie Drew via youtube.

The son of the god Lugh and Deichtine, sister of the king of Ulster, he was originally named Sétanta, but gained his better-known name as a child after he killed Chulainn's fierce guard-dog in self-defense, and offered to take its place until a replacement could be reared. At the age of seventeen he defended Ulster single-handedly against the armies of queen Medb of Connacht in the epic Táin Bó Cúailnge.

It was prophesied that his great deeds would give him everlasting fame, but that his life would be short—one reason he is compared to the Greek hero Achilles. He is known for his terrifying battle frenzy or "warp spasm", in which he becomes an unrecognizable monster who knows neither friend nor foe. He fights from his chariot, driven by his loyal charioteer Láeg, and drawn by his horses, Liath Macha and Dub Sainglend.

It is also referred to as the Vrishchika Ascendant, which is the Sanskrit name of its zodiac sign as used in Jyotish (Hindu) astrology.
