Burning Strike (バーニングストライク, Bāningu Sutoraiku?) is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series. It is an ability used exclusively by Ifrit.
Appearances[]
Final Fantasy XI[]
Burning Strike is an avatar ability learned by Ifrit at level 23. It is a moderately powerful single hit physical attack, dealing damage that is both blunt and fire-elemental for 48 MP.
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings[]
Final Fantasy XIV[]
Burning Strike was Ifrit-Egi's auto-attack, dealing light magic fire damage to a single target in melee range, and is also used as an enemy ability when fighting opposing Ifrit-Egis. Following the rework to Arcanists and Summoners in the Endwalker expansion, Burning Strike was retooled to instead act as a single powerful attack when Ifrit-Egi is summoned.
A stronger Burning Strike is used by the Infernal Shadow during Memory of Embers, a quest battle available only during the Final Fantasy XVI crossover event The Path Infernal. The Shadow will target Clive with it and it must be blocked by the player character in an Active Time Maneuver. If the player fails to block it successfully, it will inflict 9,999,999 damage on either the player character or Clive, ending the battle in failure.
Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin[]
Burning Strike appears as a weapon ability typically enabled by the Power Staff, Bell Staff, Bahamut's Staff, or the Staff Master affinity. It triggers a fiery explosion at point-blank range, knocking enemies back and dealing strike damage and magical fire damage.
