The Bronze Chestplate is a light armor in Final Fantasy XII that boosts the wearer's defense by 8 and HP by 40. It is the fourth weakest light armor in the game and basic equipment.

Obtain[]

Original[]

The Bronze Chestplate is sold for 500 gil in Rabanastre after Barheim Passage, Dalmasca Westersand after the Leviathan but before getting the Treaty-Blade, Nalbina Fortress, Bhujerba and Dreadnought Leviathan.

It rarely stolen from the Lv. 8–9 Skeletons in the Lhusu Mines and the Skull Defenders in the Barheim Passage.

Zodiac[]

The Bronze Chestplate is sold for 500 gil in Rabanastre after fighting Ba'Gamnan in Lhusu Mines, Bhujerba, and Dreadnought Leviathan. It is still rarely stolen from the Lv. 8–9 Skeletons in the Lhusu Mines and the Skull Defenders in the Barheim Passage. It is the Diamond Armlet treasure in the Trial Mode Stage 12.

Use[]

The Bronze Chestplate is the fourth weakest light armor, giving 8 to defense and 40 to HP. It is useful to equip over any inferior equipment the party may have started with. In the original version, the player can buy it from Rabanastre as soon as they leave the Barheim Passage. However, the more expensive heavy armor helm, Scale Armor, or the mystic armor Kilimweave Shirt, may be preferable if the player can stretch their funds to them, as the HP boost from light armor is not usually worth prioritizing over heavy armor that gives strength to help melee attackers, or mystic gear that gives magick power to help spellcasters.

In the Zodiac versions, Machinist, Monk, Archer, and Shikari can equip the Bronze Chestplate, and so it is only useful to buy if the player has chosen these License Boards as their starter jobs. Balthier and Fran start with the license for it and can wear it regardless of job. The Bronze Chestplate is available to buy later than in the original version.
