Leather glove designed to aid in banditry. Changes the Steal command to Mug.
Description
Brigand's Glove, also known as Thief Glove[1][2] is a relic in Final Fantasy VI. It changes the Steal command to the Mug command, which in addition to attempting to steal, also performs a regular attack. This makes it a useful relic for Locke, but can also be used by Gogo, who can equip the Steal command and use Brigand's Glove to change it to Mug.
Betting the Brigand's Glove at the Coliseum pits the player against a Vasegiatta for a Dagger.
Obtained[]
Brigand's Gloves are found in Zozo, stolen from Devil Fist, and won in the Dragon's Neck Coliseum by betting the Thief Knife or Thief's Bracer.
Use[]
Brigand's Glove provides no passive bonuses, but the Mug command can greatly improve Locke's turn efficiency by ensuring his turns are not entirely wasted. In cases where Locke is searching for a specific item to obtain, Mug can be detrimental as it may kill the target before the item is stolen, and Brigand's Glove may not be the relic of choice; when used passively, however, Locke can use Mug to make his attacks more efficient by passively obtaining recovery items or items to sell for gil.
Brigand's Glove can be combined with Thief's Bracer to double the successful steal rate of Mug. In many cases, players may prefer to instead equip a defensive relic as a second option. Alternatively, equipping a relic such as Genji Glove or Gigas Glove to boost Locke's damage may be better, making his Mug hit harder and increasing his damage output.
Brigand's Glove's value diminishes as steals become less valuable, and more valuable relics compete for the slot that would be occupied by Brigand's Glove. For instance, Locke benefits greatly from the Genji Glove + Master's Scroll combination, which may be much more compelling than Brigand's Glove. Gogo, similarly, prefers to use alternative relics as a source of damage, as Gogo's damage is primarily magic damage and will likely not come from the physical Mug attacks.
Brigand's Glove can be used with Gogo to farm items at the Dragon's Neck Coliseum. By equipping Gogo with three Steal commands, all of Gogo's moves will be Mug, causing Gogo to slowly kill an enemy while having a chance to steal the item. One specific strategy involves Gogo farming Celestriads by pairing Brigand's Glove with Safety Bit and the Aegis Shield.
