Obtained[edit | edit source]
Breath of the Earth is obtained by killing 80 enemies with Aeris. She can equip the Enemy Skill Materia, particularly with Matra Magic, to speed this process up and kill enemies in the Grasslands Area, in the Mythril Mine, or in the forests of the Junon Area to rack up some kills. Later on, the large forest in the Nibel Area past Mt. Nibel features a wave of six enemies (Battery Cap) and overall has around 4.4 enemies per encounter, making it also a good spot for Limit grinding.
Use[edit | edit source]
Breath of the Earth cures party members of Sleep, Poison, Sadness, Fury, Confusion, Silence, Slow, Stop, Frog, Small, Slow-numb, and Petrify. These effects can be extremely negative, making Breath of the Earth useful in situations against enemies that often cast negative statuses, and when the party is afflicted by multiple negative statuses at once. However, in most cases, these statuses should be cured before Aeris needs to use her Limit Break, and against enemies that apply no such statuses, Breath of the Earth is not useful.
Breath of the Earth must be cast six times to obtain Fury Brand, which fully fills the Limit gauge of her other party members. In most cases, Fury Brand is a superior Limit Break to use and has great offensive potential.
