Bravery is a magic spell in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. It is the basic spell provided by Empowerment Materia Empowerment Materia. It grants the Bravery Bravery effect, which boosts the Attack Power Attack Power of the target, thus boosting their physical damage output.

The spell is opposed to Debrave Debrave, which inflicts the Debrave Debrave effect that reduces physical damage attributes. As such, casting it on a target with debrave will remove debrave rather than apply bravery. The spell also has a magic equivalent, Faith Faith.

Bravery is also used by Two Face.

Use[]

Bravery costs 7 MP to cast. It grants a supportive status that boosts physical damage attributes for its duration. The spell can be used effectively to boost the damage output of a party member who relies on physical damage, such as Tifa, Red XIII, Cait Sith, or Cloud or Yuffie in certain builds.

Later in the game, the spell is excellent on a party member with Genji Gloves Genji Gloves. This is because their damage potential will be unlimited, meaning casting Bravery can push their damage further than their attributes and equipped weapon will allow. Another good combination is with accessories that boost limit break usage, allowing said limit breaks to be used more often and become more powerful when under bravery (particularly Tifa's limit breaks). Another great use is Bravery combined with the Lucky Slots ability, to boost critical hit rates while also boosting physical damage.

Bravery can be used with Berserk Berserk to boost damage even further. Linking Elemental Materia Elemental Materia to a weapon also adds a damage boost even when not targeting an enemy's weakness.

Because bravery is opposed to debrave, casting bravery will remove a debrave effect but not apply bravery to replace it. This has a cheaper MP cost than Esuna Esuna, unless one wishes to remove multiple statuses at once.

Bravery can be cast on all party members at once when empowerment materia is paired with Magnify Materia Magnify Materia to apply to the party. Normally however, the effect is best targeted on one party member anyway, and it is easier to cast Deprotect Deprotect on an enemy to boost the damage output of an entire party rather than casting Bravery on all.

An alternative to using Bravery is using Sonic Boom from the Enemy Skill Materia Enemy Skill Materia.
