FFIII NES Goldor Mansion WM

The Bottomless Bog (そこなしぬま, Sokonashi Numa?) is an obstacle in Final Fantasy III, it shields Goldor Manor from those who do not possess the Levigrass Shoes, but this defense can also be slunk through without the shoes, providing the individuals can fly. The bog can be described as a bundle of black lines.

Goldor lives nearby this bog because he fears anyone trying to steal his beloved possession, the Gold Crystal, which is also why he chained the Enterprise. If the Warriors of Light try to go and take the Chain Key from Goldor without the aid of the Levigrass Shoes found in the sewers of Amur given by Delilah, the end result will be an instant Game Over. However, if the Warriors have already met with Delilah and have the shoes, they are from that point immune to the lethal effects of the bog, and can cross it to reach Goldor's Mansion. If they have the Nautilus or Invincible, they can also fly over the bog.

The bog is similar to the Statues Of The Quest that cause an instant game over if the proper item is not found, that being the four elemental fangs.

Etymology[]

A bog is a mire that accumulates peat, a deposit of dead plant material—often mosses, and in a majority of cases, sphagnum moss. It is one of the four main types of wetlands.
