Bomb is an enemy in Final Fantasy VIII. It is a floating ball of fire that can detonate in a final attack to both destroy itself and damage the player.

Stats[]

Battle[]

FFVIII Suicide

Suicide.

Like the previous incarnations of Bombs in other Final Fantasy games, the Bomb will grow as it receives physical or magical attacks. Each Grow doubles its Strength and Magic stats. The final move will be Suicide to deal damage twice the amount of health as the Bomb has upon using it, which always hits. Low-level Bombs, such as those found in the Fire Cavern, do not grow or explode.

If Squall encounters one with Quistis during the Fire Cavern mission, Quistis will prompt the player use an ice attack against them, and to check their weakness with Scan.

High-level Bombs have the useful Meltdown spell to draw, but each draw makes them grow. The player can cast Sleep on them to stop them from growing to safely keep drawing.

During the Balamb Garden Revolt event, the Garden Faculty at the cafeteria ushers a higher-level Bomb at the player party if they have declared they are aligned with Headmaster Cid. This may be the first enemy the player encounters that has Meltdown. The Faculty at the quad also summons a Bomb, but this one is of usual level and accompanied by a Glacial Eye.

Strategy[]

When with other enemies, the Bomb is best defeated first. If all characters are in HP Critical, it may be best to flee the battle. Low-level Bombs can be treated like any other enemy, as they never explode. As they are weak to ice, any ice attacks like magic, Shiva or ice-elemental junctions in attack defeat them fast.

Triple Triad[]

TTBomb

Bomb is a fire-elemental Level 4 Monster Card in Triple Triad used for playing the minigame and for turning into Bomb Fragment with Quezacotl's Card Mod.
