Battle[]

Blugu is a flying fish-like enemy that can inflict Sleep Sleep in a large cone in front it by shooting bubbles from its mouth. While blugus are frail and weak on their own, this ability makes them a nuisance since they are fought alongside more powerful enemies. They will occasionally inflate and attack the player with their spines.

Unlike most biological creatures, blugus are not weak to Ice Ice, but Lightning Lightning instead. Since they're flying enemies, are also weak to Wind Wind.

Strategy[]

Blugus should be the first enemies to be dispatched to prevent them from using Slumber Spume and putting the whole party to sleep. Most of the locations where they are fought are enclosed spaces, meaning the player has little room to maneuver and avoid the bubbles. Charging head on with Cloud and using Triple Slash will easily keep them at bay, or opening the fight with Thunder Thunder to quickly stagger them. The First Strike Materia First Strike Materia is recommended so the player starts the fight with enough ATB to quickly attack the blugu before it uses Slumber Spume.

Hard Mode[]

On the hard difficulty, blugus are still as frail, but they will track the player better to use Slumber Spume, and will often use it as soon as the fight start, giving the player little time to react.
