Blood of the Dragon (蒼の竜血, Aoi no Ryūketsu?, lit. Blue Dragon Blood) is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series.
Appearances[]
Final Fantasy XIV[]
Blood of the Dragon was a Dragoon ability learned at level 54. When activated, the user is engulfed in a fiery blue aura surrounded by a spirit-like dragon. While active, it increased the potency of Jump and Spineshatter Dive by 30% while also unlocking the combo actions Fang and Claw and Wheeling Thrust learned at level 56 and 58 which extend its duration as well as the ability Geirskogul, which becomes available at level 60.
Stormblood introduces the Dragon Blood Job Gauge which also includes a sleeping eye. A trait called Life of the Dragon unlocks at level 70. After using Mirage Dive a number of times, the eye fully awakens and upon using Geirskogul, the user's aura turns red and Geirskogul upgrades into the more powerful Nastrond. Life of the Dragon has its own timer and cannot be replenished, returning to Blood of the Dragon when it expires. Its duration depends on how much of the Dragon Blood gauge was filled.
With the release of Endwalker, Blood of the Dragon was reworked into a trait that increased the potency of Jump and Spineshatter Dive to 320 and 250 potency, respectively. Blood of the Dragon was also no longer required to execute Fang and Claw or Wheeling Thrust. The trait was removed in Dawntrail and was reworked again into a 20-second status effect that is gained by executing Geirskogul that increases damage dealt by 10%. Upon learning the Life of the Dragon trait at level 70, the damage buff is renamed accordingly and is increased to 15% increased damage, and allows for the execution of the actions Nastrond and Stardiver.
