Ice magic damage/one enemy
Description
Blizzara is an attack magic spell in Final Fantasy VIII. It is the second level Ice-elemental spell above Blizzard and below Blizzaga, allowing it to be junctioned to resist or deal Ice damage in battle, or cast as a spell to deal moderate damage.
When Magic Booster is used in the 2013 PC re-release, the player's inventory gains 100 Blizzara spells, among other basic spells.
Obtained[]
Blizzara is a common spell that can be drawn from many enemies whose level is between 20 and 29, quickly replacing Blizzard in commonality. The Guardian Force Shiva gives the ability to create Ice magic via refining, while the Guardian Force Quezacotl gives the ability to refine five basic Blizzard spells to one Blizzara. The player can get it early by amassing Arctic Winds either from fighting Glacial Eyes or by modifying their cards, and then refining them into Blizzara (1:20).
Stats[]
Use[]
Blizzara has a spell power of 24 when cast, meaning its damage is calculated as:
It is cast as a spell in the Magic command, Selphie's Slot Limit Break, or Rinoa's Angel Wing if she has it in her inventory.
Casting Blizzara in battle increases compatibility with Shiva by 2, but lowers compatibility with Ifrit by 1 and with Eden by 0.2.
Prior to obtaining Blizzaga, Blizzara is a useful spell to junction against enemies weak to Blizzara, or to resist against enemies with Ice attacks. It can also be useful for junctioning to boost Strength and to deal more damage. Later, Blizzara is best refined into Blizzaga using High Mag-RF, as it is outclassed.
It is used against the player party by the following enemies: Base Soldier, Esthar Soldier (Terminator), Glacial Eye, Jelleye, NORG, Slapper and Sorceress (A). It can be reflected and protected against with defensive Ice junctions and Shell.
