Etymology[]
A blind side is a term in American and Canadian football for an area protected by a left or right tackle. Blind side is also a term used with similar meanings in rugby league and in rugby union.
To blindside an adversary is to attack them without their knowledge, often before they can see or react to the attacker, i.e. to stun or surprise.
