The character is veiled in darkness, reducing chance to hit. Remove with Eye Drops.
Description
Blind is a status in Final Fantasy XII that halves physical abilities' accuracy. Blind persists until healed, even after KO. Technicks are unaffected, and the Sight Unseeing Technick can cause a target's HP to drop drastically if the user is blinded.
Abilities[]
| Spell | Blind & Blindga (Green [OG] / Black Magicks [Zodiac]) |
|---|---|
| Weapon | Ashura 5% (Zodiac), Black Bolts 25%, Mud Shot 25% |
Blinding spells' efficacy depends on stats and the potential Faith status on the caster and Shell status on the target, but with the Indigo Pendant accessory on the caster, the ailment will take effect every time unless the recipient is outright immune.
Blinded party members can use Stamp to inflict others.
With the Nihopalaoa accessory, items designed to heal Blind will inflict it instead.
The ally-targeting gambit specifically for this status is called "Ally: status = Blind" and the self-targeting one is "Self: status = Blind" (even if ally-targeting also contains self). In the original version, these gambits can be bought for 50 gil after the events at Draklor Laboratory. The basic enemy-targeting gambit is "Foe: status = Blind", in the original version available to purchase after obtaining the Dawn Shard. The "Foe: character status = Blind" gambit, meanwhile, is available in the original version for 100 gil after the boss battle at Mt Bur-Omisace. In the Zodiac versions, all of these gambits can be purchased after leaving Nalbina Dungeons, the basic status ones for 70 gil and the "Foe: character status = Blind" gambit for 300 gil.

Use[]
Blind can be useful against enemies that use a lot of physical attacks, like the behemoth-type monsters. It also works against the Garuda boss outside the Tomb of Raithwall and against Archaeoaevises in the Zertinan Caverns, which were made the game's toughest foe in the Zodiac versions. The player can also first berserk a foe and then blind them, leaving them only using physical attacks that commonly miss; this is one strategy that works against the aforementioned Archaeoaevises.
Having Blind status on a party member makes them able to use Sight Unseeing. It can be useful for poaching enemies.
