Blazer Gloves is an accessory in Final Fantasy XII that increases strength when HP is full, making normal attacks deal 1.5x damage (Zodiac) or 1.2x damage (original). The effect is the same as the Focus augment, and once the character has unlocked Focus, equipping the Blazer Gloves is redundant. In the Zodiac versions, the gloves also give +50 HP. The gloves are metal, which factors for the Magnetize handicap for the Vinuskar battle.
Obtain[]
Original[]
In the original PlayStation 2 versions, the gloves can be bought from Dyce outside Tomb of Raithwall, and from the salesmoogle in Eruyt Village, for 3,200 gil. The gloves are also a treasure in Cerobi Steppe's North Liavell Hills (50% to appear, 65% chance to be gil, 50% chance the item is Blazer Gloves when looted with the Diamond Armlet equipped ), and a rare steal from Lost Soul. They can be made in the bazaar in the "Large Gloves" set by selling three Bent Staves (monograph drop from Bagoly).
Zodiac[]
In the updated Zodiac versions, Blazer Gloves are sold for 3,000 gil in Jahara, Eruyt Village, Mt Bur-Omisace, Mosphoran Highwaste (after defeating Judge Bergan), Phon Coast, Balfonheim Port and the "secret shop" in Necrohol of Nabudis. They are also found in treasures in Phon Coast's Caima Hills (70% to appear, 50% chance to have gil, 50% chance the item treasure is Blazer Gloves without the Diamond Armlet), Tchita Uplands' the Lost Way (30% to appear, 70% chance to contain gil, 50% the item treasure is Blazer Gloves without the Diamond Armlet) and Uazcuff Hills (35% to appear, 70% chance to contain gil, 50% the item treasure is Blazer Gloves without the Diamond Armlet), and Pharos - Third Ascent's Spire Ravel - 2nd Flight (80% to appear, 40% chance to contain gil, 50% the item treasure is Blazer Gloves without the Diamond Armlet). In the Trial Mode, Blazer Gloves are found in stages 30 and 62 with the Diamond Armlet equipped.
The gloves are still a rare steal from Lost Soul, and also now a common steal from Overlord in Trial Mode Stage 72.
The Blazer Gloves can still be made in the bazaar in the "Large Gloves" set with the same items as before.
Use[]
The effect the gloves bestow is good, as the attacker gains a large boost in attack power when in full health, which can then also stack with Berserk and Bravery; a healer character can be dedicated with topping up the party's DPS member(s) so they can stay in full health. However, the same effect is gained from the Focus license, making the Blazer Gloves redundant once the player has it. In the original versions, every character can unlock it, but in the Zodiac versions, only the following jobs have it: Uhlan, Knight, Monk, Foebreaker, Archer, and Shikari. The Blazer Gloves can be used to give the effect to the other jobs. However, in The Zodiac Age, the player can pick two License Boards per party member, and so even the other jobs can gain the Focus license with correct pairings.
