"Help" description

Black Magic (黒魔法, Kuro Mahou?) is a skillset in Final Fantasy X-2 mainly associated with the Black Mage dressphere. Equipping the Black Lore accessory also grants access to it. Some Garment Grids allow access of the spells assigned to them. Rikku's Mascot skillset, Wildcat, is a stronger variant of the Black Magic skillset. The Black Tome accessory cuts the charge time required for Black Magic by 40%.

The skillset specializes in offensive magical damage, mostly elemental. The non-elemental spells Flare and Ultima don't appear in the the Black Mage's skillset, but can be obtained by equipping Garment Grids. They can also be cast by Lady Luck via the Magic Reels command: Flare is the result of chaining three cherries and Ultima appears when three red 7s are chained.

Etymology[]

Black magic has traditionally referred to the use of supernatural powers or magic for evil and selfish purposes. With respect to the philosophy of left-hand path and right-hand path, black magic is the malicious counterpart of benevolent white magic.
