The Black Flan, also known as Dark Flan, is an enemy from Final Fantasy II. A member of the amorphous Flan clan, its extremely high Defense that shelters it from physical attacks. The only easy way to defeat a large clump of Black Flan is to target their entire group with an advanced Fire spell, but even then, with 371 HP, they might have a chance to survive if it is not a direct spell.
Black Flans may inflict the Poison status ailment with their physical attacks.

Etymology[]
The word Flan refers to an open pastry or sponge cake containing a sweet or savory filling. A typical flan of this sort is round, with shortcrust pastry, usually coated with sweet syrup. It is similar to a custard tart or a South African melktert.
