The Black Flan, also known as SLIME or Dark Flan, is an enemy in Final Fantasy. It is a rare enemy encountered in the Flying Fortress and Chaos Shrine. Its phenomenal Defense stat renders physical attacks ineffective against it, while its ability to inflict Poison can make for a painful battle of attrition with physical-oriented parties. However, its comparatively low Magic Defense and fire weakness allows a Firaga to make short work of it.
[view·edit·purge]The word Flan refers to an open pastry or sponge cake containing a sweet or savory filling. A typical flan of this sort is round, with shortcrust pastry, usually coated with sweet syrup. It is similar to a custard tart or a South African melktert.
