Black Cauldron (暗黒の釜, Ankoku no Kama?, lit. Cauldron of Darkness), also known as Dark Cauldron, is a recurring ability in the series. It is the trademark attack of the summon Hades, which inflicts non-elemental damage to all enemies as well as inflicts various negative status ailments on them.
Black Cauldron is the ability of Hades, used at the cost of 150 MP. It deals non-elemental damage to all enemies with a spell power of 90, and inflicts Poison, Confuse, Sleep, Frog, Mini, Silence, Slow, and Paralysis at a 100% chance to enemies not immune to those statuses.
Black Cauldron is the ultimate ability of Hades' second form, used twice throughout the battle. If a party member fails the Active Time Maneuver, Black Cauldron will immediately kill them afterwards. After the repeated waves of The Dark Devours are launched and the arena is engulfed in darkness completely, Hades ceases attacking and begins charging the spell. If not defeated before the ability bar fills, the entire party will be struck for 999999 damage, ending the battle instantly.
Dark Cauldron is the summon attack of the default version of Hades available to the Deathlord. The attack deals heavy dark-elemental damage to all enemies. In addition, it may inflict poison, darkness, and silence to enemies. Using Dark Cauldron costs 3 bars from the Summon Gauge.
Black Cauldron is an enemy ability of the Hades (Savage) magicite boss. It deals heavy magic non-elemental damage to all targets, with a moderate chance to inflict Poison, Sleep, Paralyze, Confuse, Silence, and Slow. In addition, Savage Black Cauldron also appears as a stronger version used by the same enemy, which deals massive dark-elemental magic damage and inflicts a 60 second Doom counter to all targets, ignoring their resistance and magic blink.
Ultra Black Cauldron is also the magicite Ultra Skill of the Hades esper. It deals five magic dark-elemental attacks to all enemies, with a moderate chance to inflict Poison, Confuse, Sleep, Paralyze, Silence, and Slow. In addition, it increases the potency of the party's dark-elemental attacks.
