An elder of the Church who never rests in his mission to spread the teachings of the gods to the common people.

Simon's unique Job Class in Final Fantasy Tactics. His job was known as Bishop in the PS1 release, but was changed to Elder for the Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions for the PSP version.

This job is a story related job used in cut scenes, it serves no purpose in battle as there is no abilities associated with the job. It possesses no Action Abilities, no Reaction Abilities, no Support Abilities, and no Movement Abilities. Curious to say, the developers did take time to give it a job description.

Bishop is exclusive to the bangaa race and it's their only magic-based Job. Bishops learn a variety of offensive and defensive magic, so one could say they are a variant of the Red Mage job. Due to their religious namesake, Bishops are the only Job class in their respective games that can cast the spell Holy. They also have access to Magic Counter and Half MP.

To unlock Bishops, the player will always need to master two White Monk action abilities. Bishops use Prayer on the battlefield, and equip Staves, Robes, Light Armor and Hats.

Bishops now use Intercession skills on the battlefield, but still equip Staves, Robes, Light Armor and Hats.
