Prepare for the worst, you brats!

Biggs

Biggs is a boss in Final Fantasy VIII. He is fought twice along with his subordinate, Wedge. Biggs and Wedge are soldiers in the Galbadian military who keep being demoted and act as something of a comic relief recurring boss akin to Gilgamesh from Final Fantasy V, Ultros from Final Fantasy VI and the Turks from Final Fantasy VII, although the duo is only fought twice: when the party meets them the third time they decide to quit before the battle can even start.

Quotes[]

Communications Tower[]

At the beginning of the battle.

"Prepare for the worst, you brats!"

When Wedge joins:

"WEDGE! Where were you!? No pay for you this month!"

After Wedge loses half his HP max:

"Stop your whining!"

FFVIII Thunder EA

Biggs in battle.

Prepare for the worst, you brats!

Biggs

The battle begins with Biggs fighting on his own, but after taking three turns or when his HP is depleted completely, Wedge will join him. Biggs is only marginally stronger than a regular Elite Soldier and should not pose a threat. He casts Cure once on Wedge after the latter loses half his HP. In the next turn Biggs can cast Cure on himself if he has low HP.

He is the first source of Esuna magic the party can draw. Once Biggs's or Wedge's HP is depleted, Elvoret will interrupt the battle.

If Biggs's HP is depleted completely before Wedge will join him, the game interprets it as an enemy already defeated. Even if the player does not deplete his HP again in the next "round" of battle, they still get the 4 AP that he yields.

Machine Gun.

I was demoted because of you! I'm only a lieutenant now! I'll get my revenge!

Biggs

Biggs is no more difficult than the first encounter. He can cast Haste and Regen on himself and Wedge (both spells can be drawn from him), and can cast Cure when their HP is low. This can be stopped by inflicting Silence on him. If afflicted with Confuse, Biggs and Wedge will attack one another in a humorous scene.

Triple Triad[]

TTBiggsWedge

Wedge, Biggs is a Triple Triad card. Though they are bosses, the card is the final Level 5 Monster Card in the menu. The card refines into X-Potion with Quezacotl's Card Mod. Snow Lion and Funguar have a small chance of turning into Wedge, Biggs with the Card command.
