Powerful malboro that smells even worse.

Big Malboro in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is a lavender version of the notorious Malboro. In addition to its repugnant odor, it uses horrible sounds to inflict negative status effects and remove positive ones. It has the most HP of any other monster genus, but other than that, is not much more difficult than its green-skinned cousin. Like Malboros, Big Malboros have access to Bad Breath and Goo. Bad Breath inflicts many status effects on one unit, rendering them useless. Goo immobilizes targets in melee range.

Big Malboros are capturable along with their normal variants. This way, Morphers are able to use the Big Malboro's Soundwave ability, which dispels all beneficial status effects from enemies. Dispel is a rarity in this game, especially those that have range and effect an area. Together, Malboros and Big Malboros provide Morphers with great status effects and support, but with no damaging capabilities. Because of this, their usefulness depends on whether the player's playstyle favors status effects. Unusually, Malboros and Big Malboros will only eat Ethers and Elixirs, not accepting Curealls.

"Malboro" may derive from the Japanese onomatopoeia boro, the sound of an upset stomach. The word mal means "something bad" or "illness". The name could also be a reference to Marlboro Cigarettes, since the creatures often spew horrid fumes.
