Description

The Berserker is an Advanced Job in Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin, available after unlocking the corresponding nodes in the Swordsman and Marauder Job Trees. In addition, it is available to Ash after clearing the "Memories of Wind" main mission. Leveling this job is required unlock the Dark Knight and Breaker expert jobs.

Berserker is a purely offensive job that specializes in sacrificing defenses and overwhelming enemies with raw power. This job makes use of the Swordsman and Marauder's charging capabilities to deliver devastating damage to enemies, though it is recommended that Berserkers wield the axe for the highest damage. To keep on the offensive during combat, the Berserker provides passives that increase physical damage dealt, especially when near death, and an increase in HP.

Gameplay[]

Job Action[]

What makes the Berserker the strongest Advanced job is its job action, Berserk, which temporarily increases the player's damage output and break defense while also increasing the chance of staggering an enemy while eliminating their own potential of being staggered. However, the Berserker sacrifices the ability to use Potions during Berserk. This ability will have the player bulldozing through most encounters and can even be made stronger from abilities such as Summon Tachi and it's Savage Awakening skill.

Prior to Patch 1.11, this buff could be used interchangeably, allowing for both Job Sets to take advantage of the buff.

Equipment[]

The Berserker employs the use of the two heavy weapons being the greatsword and axe. These weapons take advantage of the jobs inherent aggression and simply enhances it with more damage, with combo effects focusing on increasing their physical damage and bolstering it break gauge recovery

Stats[]

The Berserker gives a large stat bonus to Strength, further increasing the physical damage dealt.

Etymology[]

Berserker was originally a term for Norse warriors who fought with uncontrollable rage and reckless disregard for their own lives. The term itself is typically translated as "bear's skin" in reference to the animal skins Vikings would wear into battle. Theories about what causes berserkergang, the fury Berserkers go into, include possession by an animal spirit, drunken rage, and ritualistic dancing. Berserkers are often depicted in art as men with crazed eyes biting their shields in anticipation of battle.
