Berserk in Final Fantasy VII.

Berserk (バーサク, Bāsaku?), also known as Bersk or Bserk, is a spell which inflicts the Berserk status effect. The spell itself is not confined to one specific class of magic.

Appearances[edit | edit source]

Final Fantasy II[edit | edit source]

Temporarily raises attack.

Description

Berserk is a Black Magic spell which increases the attack power of one or all allies in battle, allowing them to inflict more physical damage per hit. This increment increases with the spell's level and with the caster's Intelligence. The effect can stack; however, attack power is capped at 255 and further castings will have no effect.

Unlike later editions, the player retains control of berserked characters. Any character can learn Berserk by having them use the Berserk Tome (Berserk Scroll in Origins). The Berserk tome also sells for 5,000 gil, and is even dropped by early-game enemies (i.e. the Magician), making it useful to grind for cash despite the low normal cash drops.

Berserk III is used by Magician, while Berserk VI is used by Gottos.

Berserk Tome
Effect Allows the target to learn Berserk when used outside of battle. Casts Berserk VIII on all allies when used in battle.
