History[]

Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers[]

Years before the Flood of Light, Beq Lugg lived in Il Mheg and worked as a researcher for souls in the kingdom of Voeburt. However, the research they conducted was twisted by Voeburt's court mage, who used it to transform the kingdom's residents into monsters. Though he was defeated by Ardbert and his companions, the effects caused the fall of the kingdom, leaving the whole region of Il Mheg solely under the control of the fae folk, Beq Lugg, however, disgusted about how their research was used in such horrendous way by man, chose to exile themself and live in solitude within the Grand Cosmos.

When the Flood of Light struck the First, Beq Lugg did nothing, although they were aware of what was happening in the world. At some point they were made contact by the Crystal Exarch, who asked for their help against the sin eaters, but they refused, not wanting anything to do with the matters of man.

Following the return of the night, the Scions of the Seventh Dawn began to research for a way to return back to the Source. Crystal Exarch, revealed as G'raha Tia, suggested they ask help from Beq Lugg, even though he knew they might not be forthcoming. Nevertheless, the Warrior of Darkness, G'raha and the Scions stormed their home, and eventually they gave up and asked what they wanted. They reluctantly agreed to help devise a way with the Scions to transfer their souls back to the Source with their memories intact.

To get the research going, Beq Lugg needed to experiment with a soul, that was all but extinguished, like that of the sin eaters. Alisaie told them the Inn at the Journey's End has plenty of such people. This also provided the Scions with the possibility of restoring the people there.

At the Inn, Beq Lugg first asked Alphinaud and the Warrior to gather materials, so that Alisaie can create an image of a porxie familiar, capable of adjusting the aetheric balance within people that have been infected with overabundance of different aetherial aspects. In this case, the patients at the Inn had been infected with overabundance of Light aether. Although Alisaie's image was rather funny looking, at least to Alphinaud, it nevertheless worked. By using the porxie, whom Alisaie named Angelo, she managed to use her aether to allow the porxie to restore to the patients in the Inn, and they started slowly to return to their normal selves. Alisaie also realized this method could also be used to cure primal tempering in the Source, since the principal was the same. This gave Beq Lugg the knowledge they needed to craft vessels capable of carrying the Scions' souls, so that they can then rejoin with their original bodies in the Source, as their forms in the First were only temporal, and in time they could no longer be maintained.

Beq Lugg worked with G'raha and Urianger with white auracite to craft the soul vessels. While the auracite was capable of carrying a soul, it couldn't hold the soul along with their memories remaining intact. They required a suitable catalyst, that can bind the soul within the auracite without losing memories, and also allow the soul to return to the body. G'raha knew of one possible catalyst; his own blood, but Beq Lugg and Urianger urged him to consider that as a last resort.

The Crystarium would be stunned, when Ardbert suddenly appeared and revealed that their savior, the Warrior of Darkness, was not of this world, and it when they inevitably return home, it us up to the people of Norvrandt to become the new Warriors of Light. As Warrior, Y'shtola, and Urianger retreated to Ocular to discuss the matter, Beq Lugg felt the person was indeed Ardbert, remembering him from a over a century ago. However, the Warrior claimed otherwise, since Ardbert had entrusted his very soul to the Warrior, and Y'shtola was able confirm it. They concluded that "Ardbert" was in fact an Ascian, and Beq Lugg was appalled to hear how the Ascians inhabit the flesh of the fallen.

Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker[]

Yet miracles do happen. So let us pray, and will our friends home.

Beq Lugg's voice from the past

Beq Lugg's voice is one of the many memories of the Warrior of Light's comrades who encourage them in Ultima Thule to walk forward and face the end.

Following the Final Days' aversion, Beq Lugg remained in Crystarium and mostly worked with Moren at Cabinet of Curiosity to collect and preserve the knowledge of the First. When the Warrior returned to gain help in order to save the Source from a voidsent invasion from the Thirteenth, Beq Lugg first helped Zero to gain a temporary body and then they used G'raha's written instructions to prepare the Crystal Tower to channel the Light from the Flood and direct to the Thirteenth.

Characteristics[]

Beq Lugg is a Nu Mou with the typical long ears and mole like nose. They wear a red robe with a yellow sash at the waist and blue pants. When encountered in the Grand Cosmos, they take the form of a robed creature with tentacles resembling a Mindflayer from Final Fantasy XII.

Personality[]

Beq Lugg is a talented mage, bringing many objects to life to attack and impede the Warrior of Light. Although they are reluctant to assist man once more, they are convinced by the Warrior of Light. They also serve as a great teacher, such as when they teach Alisaie how to conjure a porxie.
