Benediction is a White Mage ability from Final Fantasy XIV that restores all HP to a single target. It is the White Mage's strongest ability in the default A Realm Reborn release, unlocked from completing the "Heart of the Forest" job quest at level 50.

Use[]

Benediction heals the target for an amount equal to their maximum HP, ignoring status effects such as Infirmity that would otherwise reduce healing received. The ability serves as the White Mage's first off global cooldown (OGCD) healing ability, having no cast time to perform, but has a large cooldown time of 180 seconds to use again. Despite having an instant cast time, the ability's starting animation on the user must completed before hitting the desired target. The ability has a casting range of 30 yalms.

Benediction is useful in game when healing in dire situations, especially when the target is close to critical health. The move is also the best method when healing tanks doing large enemy pulls in dungeons. Benediction can be cast on NPCs to great effect thanks to their massive health pools, which can be crucial in scenarios where the NPC must survive, such as the Vedrfolnir FATEs.

Behind the scenes[]

The name of the ability in all languages derives from the English localization name for the White Mage's one-hour ability Final Fantasy XI, Benediction (ベネディクション, Benedikushon?).

Benediction was introduced as an ability at the release of the job system in the late 1.x series. It was a White Mage ability available after completing "The Chorus of Cataclysm" quest at level 50.

When used, the ability fully healed all party members within range. However, due to its ability to heal the entire party to max HP, Benediction generated a massive amount of enmity against the caster and had a long recast time of 900 seconds.

Change history in relaunch[]

From the initial relaunch through the entirety of the Heavensward expansion, the ability had a heftier recast time of 300 seconds.
