FF7 Champion belt

The Champion Belt as seen in Final Fantasy VII.

Belts (ベルト, Beruto?) are a recurring type of accessory in the Final Fantasy series that promote physical stats, specially Strength. They are very low in numbers throughout the series, and the most recurring belt is the Black Belt.

Appearances[]

Final Fantasy VI[]

Two belts appear as relics and both promote physical stats: the Black Belt and the Muscle Belt.

Final Fantasy VII[]

The Champion Belt can be obtained in the Gold Saucer Battle Square and promotes Strength.

Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-[]

The Muscle Belt, Champion Belt, and Black Belt increase Zack's ATK and VIT.

Final Fantasy VII Remake[]

There are two equipable belts. The Champion Belt increases HP and Strength. The Superstar Belt avoids incapacitation once in battle.

Final Fantasy IX[]

The Black Belt and Power Belt can be equipped by everyone and increase Strength and Defense.

Final Fantasy X-2[]

The Muscle Belt, Black Belt, and Champion Belt increase the wearer's Strength and Defense.

Final Fantasy XI[]

Known as the "waist" category of equipment, there are over 100 different belts. They commonly increase stats rather than Defense.

Some examples of belts:

  • White Belt
  • Purple Belt
  • Brown Belt
  • Black Belt
  • Chuchulain's Belt
  • Life Belt
  • Saotome Koshi-Ate
  • Warwolf Belt
  • Penitent's Rope

Final Fantasy XII[]

Belts protect against status effects with exception of the Bubble Belt, which grants Bubble as well (thus nullifying Disease).

List of belts:

Final Fantasy XIII[]

Belt-type accessories give the wearer resistance to physical damage.

Final Fantasy XIII-2[]

Belt-type accessories give the wearer resistance to physical damage.

Final Fantasy XIV[]

Like in Final Fantasy XI, belts were also referred to as "waist" equipment and increased offensive and defensive stats. In the Legacy version of the game, belts were rendered on player characters, but this was removed in A Realm Reborn.

Prior to the Endwalker expansion, belts occupied the waist slot. Upon the release of the expansion, all belts were rendered useless as equipment and can only be sold to NPCs for gil, traded in to Grand Company Personnel Officers, have their previously-attached materia removed from them, discarded or desynthesized, or in the case of the Speed Belt, exchanged for a functionally identical ring called the Blitzring. Any items that could be previously exchanged for belts or coffers that contained them were rendered non-functional and can only be sold to NPCs for gil or discarded.

Final Fantasy XV[]

The only wearable belt is the Black Belt that improves damage against large enemies.

Final Fantasy Type-0[]

The Black Belt minorly improves Attack and is the only belt-type equipment piece.

Final Fantasy Legend III[]

The Belt is the first "accessory" available to the party. It provides +1 Defense, +3 Magic Defense and +20 MP to Cyborgs, but it's the only accessory to provide no resistances.
