Behemoth is an enemy from Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. It appears in all three Cycles in Conall Curach. It is probably the strongest and hardest enemy that the player has faced up to that point in the game.

Stats[]

Battle[]

A Behemoth should be paralyzed with Thunder or Thundaga. Afterward, the player can keep attacking until it is down. It is best to have a couple Phoenix Downs on hand. Another strategy is to remain on the planks and target it with ranged spells. Because of its massive size, the Behemoth cannot follow the player any further if they retreat.

A Behemoth possesses several attacks that make if difficult to approach from most angles. Its basic melee attack is a simple swipe from its right paw, hitting anything in front of it. Another attack it uses from this range is to charge electricity between its horns and perform an upward swing with them. Not only is this move stronger, but whoever the Behemoth hits will almost always be paralyzed. When it gathers orange and yellow energy in the finned part of its tail, the Behemoth is about to stab it into the ground and generate a wave of fire that hits all around it in a circle, usually inflicting burns. Its final attack is similar, though it gathers blue energy in a near instant and unleashes a wave of ice instead, inflicting the frozen condition. This move is the most dangerous in its arsenal, as it comes out with very little warning compared to the fire-based stab, and makes the Behemoth's other attacks deal more damage.

Etymology[]

Behemoth is a beast mentioned in Job 40:15–24. In addition to mythological creatures, it is likened to dinosaurs, especially sauropods, as well as elephants, hippos, rhinos, and bison. Metaphorically, the term behemoth denotes "an extremely large or powerful entity".
