There's no need to bow down to summoners, either. Yes, summoners are a thing of the past.
Criticizing Datto's prayer to Yuna.
Beclem is a minor character in Final Fantasy X-2. A former Crusader and now a member of the Youth League, Beclem is sent to train the Besaid Aurochs, the blitzball team of Besaid, and was looking forward to meeting their captain, Wakka, but is disappointed to find the Aurochs do not meet his high standards. Highly skilled in blitzball himself, Beclem is a part of the team with Wakka when the player goes against the Aurochs in a blitzball match. He is outspoken about his disdain toward Yevon.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Beclem's model is one of the many designs of Crusaders' members seen throughout Final Fantasy X: he has brown hair and wears an iron mask which protects his eyes and forehead. He wears a red tanktop and has a green belt around his waist. Over the tanktop he has a purple jacket adorned with iron protectives on the arms and yellow ropes at each side. He also wears loose white shorts, knee-high red socks and black shoes. His character model was also used for the fayth of Yojimbo.
Personality[]
You must be awfully confident in your strength if you're skipping training just to flap your lips like that.
Beclem criticizing Aurochs.
Beclem is a no-nonsense type, loudly decrying Yevon and anything related to it (such as summoners). He claims to have known Chappu while in the Crusaders, and after hearing so many stories about his brother Wakka, was looking forward to meeting him, but is disappointed to see he is not what he expected. He is severe toward those training under his tutelage, expecting them to do their utmost.
Story[]
After their first meeting, Yuna is incensed at Beclem's attitude regarding Yevon and the summoners. Beclem challenges Yuna to test her skill at the Gunner's Gauntlet, where she must run from the village to the beach on Besaid Island, killing fiends along the way. Later on, after defeating Dark Valefor, the gauntlet can also be run in Besaid Temple's Cloister of Trials.
In Chapter 3, fiends begin pouring out of the temples' Chambers of the Fayth and Beclem insists on burning the temple to save the village. Wakka ventures inside alone to quell the infestation, but receives help from the Gullwings. Beclem scolds Wakka for acting so reckless, as he is about to become a father.
If Yuna talks to Beclem via the CommSphere in Chapter 4, Beclem will talk about how he and Chappu fought together in the Crusaders and he thinks that Chappu was ten times the man Wakka is.
Depending on the player's actions during the game, Beclem may leave Besaid in Chapter 5 as he has been called back to the Youth League base. The player can catch him before he sets off and he will give the player a sphere of Chappu to give to Wakka. Just as he is about to board the ship, Beclem shows off his blitzball skills, impressing the Aurochs. Upon Beclem's return to Youth League HQ, he complains about all the paperwork he's been doing since his return.
Voice[]
Beclem's Japanese voice actor is Shunsuke Sakuya and his English voice actor is Adam Paul.
