Beaudefoin Dupaitre is a non-player character in Final Fantasy XIV. He is a member of Adventurers' Guild and a Chaperone of the Moonfire Faire.

History[]

Early life[]

Beaudefoin Dupaitre was born in the Black Shroud and spent his youth working in a restaurant in Gridania. He developed a hunger for adventure when he saw brave and fashionable souls risking their lives against the Bombards with festive smiles upon their faces and joined the Adventurers' Guild soon after, becoming fast friends with Haermaga Bleibornsyn.[1]

Haermaga said that the Bombard King had risen again and that he and some members of the Adventurers' Guild intended to end his reign before it began. He asked to Warrior of Light meet him at the waterfall in a quarter bell to explain about a secret mission. On the location a trio of masked calling themselves the "Go Go Posing Rangers" revealed themselves. In reality, they were Haermaga masked as the "Red Ranger", Hildelana as the "Black Ranger", and Beaudefoin as the "Yellow Ranger". After some introductions, they explained that while their powers when combined in Firefall Battle Formation were strong enough to take down the Bombard King, it was something they could not consistently accomplish. To improve their success rate, they asked the Warrior of Light to help with their training. Returning to Haermaga, he was happy to hear that the Warrior of Light was willing to help the Go Go Posing Rangers with their training. He asked that they begin working with the Red Ranger immediately and directed the Warrior of Light to J'nangho.[2]

J'nangho told how the Yellow Ranger had perfected a deadly new attack named "Triple Majestic Slash Attack" and he swore its power was such it could easily take down any Bombards that were unfortunate enough to be on the receiving end. J'nangho had secretly requested that the Warrior of Light weaken some Bombards so that the Yellow Ranger could test his new technique. Shortly after the Warrior of Light released the weakened Bygone Bombards in the Yellow Ranger's vicinity, he spotted the creatures and asked to back off while he unleashed his attack. He quickly took care of them, leaving the battle almost unharmed.[3]

Haermaga was concerned that the Go Go Posing Rangers, although they had improved throughout their training, still lacked teamwork. They ran out of time, as the king and his minions began their advance sooner than expected. After requesting that the Warrior of Light help the Rangers on the battlefield, Haermaga asked the Warrior to meet them at Hidden Falls.[4]

The Warrior of Light met up with the Go Go Posing Rangers, who were one member short. While waiting for the Red Ranger, the other two explained that they still needed to perfect the Firefall Battle Formation because their missing comrade often overthought the steps, causing him to get out of sync. The Yellow and Black Rangers believed they had found a way to combat this problem through meditation and requested that the Warrior of Light hold the Bombards who had appeared on the margins long enough for them to accompany him. While the Yellow and Black Rangers revealed their true identities as Beaudefoin and Hildelana, the Red Ranger joined in, still refusing to remove his mask, which was Haermaga. The Go Go Posing Rangers got into the Firefall Battle Formation and took down the Bombard King. Having learned a valuable lesson about teamwork and the meaning of friendship, Haermaga believed this would be the beginning of a long and successful evil-fighting career for him and his two comrades.[4]

Moonfire Faire 2017[]

Busy with his tasks at the Faire, Beaudefoin asked the Warrior of Light to help stock up by taking three fresh haddock to prepare battered fish.[5]

Haermaga revealed they had built an obstacle course as the centerpiece of this year's festivities. The organizers of the event believed the sight of members of the Adventurers' Guild risking their lives to complete an increasingly difficult series of challenges would inspire the younger generation to one day become adventurers.[6]

Beaudefoin was the guide on the way, who explained the simple rules of the Eorzean Nimble Warrior course. Each of the three sections was led by a Moonfire Faire chaperone. J'nangho was the first chaperone. Upon witnessing his completion of the first test, J'nangho was pleased, but not surprised. She warned that greater challenges must be overcome to reach Hildelana's platform at the end of the second stretch. Arriving at the second goal, Hildelana presented the final course. P'obyano was the final chaperone, who applauded the Warrior of Light for completing the challenge.[7]

Moonfire Faire 2019[]

Beaudefoin and P'obyano were the chaperones responsible for the "Eorzean Nimble Warrior" event.[8] When the Warrior of Light was looking for R'fhul Tia, Beaudefoin said that R'fhul Tia was about to enter the Eorzean Ninja Warrior course. R'fhul Tia climbed the course only to fall in an inglorious defeat with his first jump.[9]

Beaudefoin, Hildelana, and P'obyano returned as the chaperones of the reworked Eorzean Nimble Warrior. Beaudefoin watched R'fhul Tia fail the challenge. Beaudefoin told R'fhul Tia that the reason he failed was because he was so focused on trying to impress his apprentices that he did not fully commit to winning the challenge. With a new perspective, R'fhul Tia completed the challenge.[10]

While Haermaga explained to Warrior of Light that year they had added a Far Eastern flair with fans called "uchiwa", a scream was heard. Upon locating the source of the scream, a terrified tourist told him that a strange creature had challenged him to a dance-off and fled after defeating him. While Warrior of Light was investigating, Haermaga informed Beaudefoin and P'obyano about the scream. The pair rushed to the scene to help the Warrior of Light.[11]

While they were theorizing about what the creatures might be, Memeja appeared to apologize. Memeja had been invited by Gegeruju to take part in the festivities, she had traveled from Ul'dah and had brought her pet cactuars with her. Memeja said that her pets had been behaving themselves until just when she had met Gegeruju. When she had gone away to have a drink, the pets went crazy and Gegeruju couldn't control them.[12]

The Warrior of Light, Beaudefoin and P'obyano searched for the cactuars and used the uchiwa to calm them down. After all the cactuars had been captured and calmed down. The party returned to inform Haermaga of the news. While theorizing about what could have caused the pets to go berserk, Gegeruju comments that they went crazy after he shared a bottle of wine with the cactuars without Memeja's knowledge. Haermaga was grateful that Warrior of Light had resolved the crisis before any of the fair's participants had been hurt.[13]
